I have bellsouth/at&t dsl. There service @#$@# sucks. Every time it rains i lose internet. Every 3 mths my modem dies. Now they are trying to make me pay for a modem that i sent back via ups. I swear that if this is not fixed tommorow when i have a coming to jesus meeting with customer service in the morning i will be canceling there crap internet, home phone and all!! Good day!!:crybaby::mad::censor::flipoff2:

Never had any problem with AT&T internet until we moved. Called, asked to have service cut off on X date. Check account last month, AT&T still taking money out for our bill. Still waiting on the check they promised me.

Don't get me started on Charter... I wouldn't mind if the company imploded...

Local landline DSL's are a pain in the arse. I used to set them up for our jobsite construction trailers. Now I just give our guys a Verizon Mifi card. It lets up to 5 people on at once wirelessly - which is perfect when everyone breaks out their laptops for jobsite meetings. And speeds are fast compared to the USB broadband cards that we used before. The downside is that it is not as cheap as basic DSL - around $60/month, but it is comparatively painless - you don't have to deal with AT&T customer support or all the cruddy software they make you install just to use it. For us there is a bonus in that even with a 2 yr contract we can move the Mifi card to a different jobsite at any time.

I went through hell with Charter for 3 years. I switched over to them from Directv because they were the only ones with an HD DVR at the time. What a mistake. They have no customer service people in the US. None! They would even lie to me and tell me they were in the US. The final straw was my neighbors cable line that had been run through my back yard for over a year without them coming out and burying it even though I called them every month for a year. To top it off after I disconnected my service they tried to ruin my credit by saying I hadn't turned in my modem that I had bought myself. My modem! They could never prove they shipped me one but they insited I had gotten it from them even though I had a reciept. That took 6 months of calls from them and me to finally get straight only for them to say I now owed them a remote. Which I had returned. lol That took a year.

Never again. I'll go without TV before I go back to them. DirecTV and AT&T have been a blessing.

so i picked a fight with them this morning. Customer service refused to send me the tracking # via email. They also refused to check it themselves. So i threatened to end our relationship. Went to tmobile to check out there web cards for my laptop. Was given one with 14 days to try it out. Called at&t again, spoke to another agent who said i was not in jepordy of being charged in the 1st place. AAARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!! And we wonder why people shoot up organizations! All i know is if they send me a bill with the charge they can ding my credit all they want i will not pay the fee.

We use the Mifi hotspot at a job trailer in Blythewood as well and love it. It's not priced too bad right now either. $50, plus a 2 year contract. Only thing is they limit you on the download, but I used a 5gb card for 30 days and I used the hell out of it and only burnt up 1.25 gb of data. They go further than you think.

we dropped charter a few months ago and went with dishnetwork. We were going to do directTV, but after being stood up twice, i went with dish. Very easy and super cheap. For internet, i'm still up in the air. MIght just go get iphones instead.

but then you'll have to jailbreak them to tether them.:D

I read something where they were going to start charging for tethering your phone to your notebook.

To be honest, i stare at three computer screens all day. I don't check internet much at home unless its mud.

I just heard that a Fed Judge ruled against Apple's/AT&T's fight to prevent iPhones from being jail-broken. He ruled that iPhone owners could do anything they wanted with their purchased equipment under 1st Amendment. If you think about it, it's no different than you overclocking (modifying) the processor on your PC.

*Hence, they want to charge for tethering. Verizon already does with certain smartphones ($15/mo) on top of your existing data plan.

We have AT&T and have not had any problems. We stream netflix and movies from amazon. I have not tried hulu plus yet but may do so in the future. We stoppered direct tv about 2 yrs ago and have no cable at all.
I just hooked up rabbit ears to one of my TV and was amazed at the signal clarity.
