Well I just bought my 1st 60! It's an 85 with 260k miles and she don't run worth a damn. I picked her up for $3300 and got her home last night. Lifted ?" running new offbrand 33" ATs, Front and rear Lockrights and 456's already done. Customized/stock rear bumper, front "brushguard", CB, Magellan GPS... and a bunch of other crap I can't think of right now. I'll be putting a full weekend into trying to figure out what all is wrong with her other than a carb rebuild and a ton of vaccume lines being disconnected, blocked off and or just missing.

Sweet! I love my 60 and I'm sure you will wants she runs better. :D

Good for you
Looks like a solid truck you have there, justs needs a little kick in the a@# :D to get going.

BMan,
i bought one not too long ago and it has a lot of issues with the hoses as well. tons of missing, bypassed and it looks like the smog pump hose is bypassed into itself. i am a newbee to this, so i have not even dove into getting that all worked out. i have been digging around on the web to try to get the configuration of all of it. if you get yours worked out, or have photos or leads on this, then do me a favor and post it.

Congrats BMan! Buy the factory manual set. The voice of some experience(s).

Work out the emissions first and then go to the carb. Otherwise it looks like a nicely set-up rig. And if the motor's too tired, a SBC will really finish the package. Vrrroooom!

What about that GPS? Got any pics of where its mounted (if it is?)...I've got an older Eagle Explorer that I'm going to mount in my 60.
I'm also looking for the computer link cable if anyone's got one...prolly not seeing as the thing is old :P

Nice truck....too bad its not a DIESEL :flipoff2:

 on the new rig. Looks good, nice price considering all you got.

Is that a home fabbed snorkel?
...it's on the pass. side. How's it put together and plumbed to the carb?
No manual choke ...aftermarket carb?

I paid 2K for an 87 with 125K miles on it three weeks ago. But I wish my 60's body looked like yours- it's a midwest truck, so she's slowly beaing eaten alive by rust. But she run's like a champ! (now that she has a new fuel pump!)

They are a lot of fun to drive- I'm sure you'll enjoy yours!

As stated above, get your emissions stuff sorted out before you dig into the carb. The way your truck runs depends on that stuff. Get the factory manual (the full set is really the way to go) and take it from there. The carb is rock solid on these things and needs little attention or adjustment...but the emissions stuff? all it takes is one yahoo who things he remembers where vac lines go (but doens't) or thinks he can desmog it by plugging a few lines...

You'll learn to really question the sense of the PO...but congrats, she looks great! Nice extras, too!

Well... the verdict is in. She needs a top end. #4 is wet and #5 is oil fouling on startup. Actually I haven't yet done a compression or leakdown test but I'm pretty sure at best #5 is shot. All of the emissions stuff has been removed and is in boxes in the back of the truck. I'll deffinately be getting a set of FSM's. ANyone got a line on a cheap 2f?

Just like that one except NOT IN MAINE!

GPS is not installed. Its an old MAgellan unit that I'm having fun trying to find a manual on. This truck will have an installed GPS at some point though, whether or not it's this one is yet to be seen.

JWEST,
Yes it is home fabbed. I don't have any pics of it yet but I will be removing it and replaceing it with a unit that my buddy is going to TIG up for me. The PVC is cracking really bad and just isn't going to hold up. Although nothing is hooked up right now it looks like a PO moved the intake on the aircleaner to the pass side and used a "stock" flex hose to some couplers that run up through the fender. It was probably a clean install originally but it ain't gonna cut it now. I'll see about gettin some pics of everything before I take it apart.

I have all the emmisions from an 81 2f if you're interested

How does $150.00 sound for everything: VSV, EGR, Injection Rail, Smog Pump... etc. I've converted to a non-us carb and I don't need the stuff.

I might have to jump on that. I'll let you know sometime next week though. I've got a line on a 2f in Cali but I'm waiting to hear some news on a SBC I heard about...I might not need the 2f stuff.

Don't do it man!
2F or Toy diesel. Either way, I'll help you with it.
I won't help you with a SBC swap. :P
But, if you can find a 2UZ-FE, I'll be more than happy to help you shoehorn
that v8 in there. :D
