I am sorry, but that is a minivan/sienna w 4 wheel drive option, not an suv.....

Thanks for sharing those pics. Are those off camber pictures really as steep as they look?

Stock anything usually looks like crap. I'd be interested to see how one looks with about 4" of lift and 35s.

Is a rear locker going to be available? Also, what size are the diffs? Is it the same as the 100 or bigger? I noticed the Tundra has a much bigger diff, so its got me curious.

Thanks again for sharing!

Edit: Found this in an article from another post:

The Land Cruiser's front SD22A differential uses a 3.909:1 gear ratio and a ring gear that is 8.7 inches in diameter

The rear BD24A differential uses precisely the same gear ratio and employs a 9.5-inch ring gear

By the way, the thing grosses out at 7,275 pounds, but as a payload of only 1,585 pounds.

So, lemme get this straight. It's maximum weight is 800lbs heavier than my 80, but it's maximum payload is 134lbs less.

Hmmmm......

Other than that, the specs aren't too bad. They certainly could have done worse. I could see this being a pretty nice road trip rig for a family with a little bit of moderate wheeling along the way. Definately added some nice creature comforts for the rear passengers. Add mild lift and 33s and take the kiddies to Yellowstone.

The future of the Toyota Land Cruiser.

Meih.

This thing looks terrible. It's obese and looks like a looooong RAV4...

Too bad. Time to start hoarding old Land Cruisers.

-o-

Thanks for the pics David--this is not directed at you, but at Toyota.

I wonder why they moved the gasoline filler door and stuff to the passenger side.

I kind of like it on the drivers side. (I know, just bitchin' about anything) :flipoff2:

The additional power is certainly welcome, but I think they could've asked for some styling cues from Mud.

Thanks for sharing the pics. Looks as if you had a great time.

Toyota says total front articulation is now 700mm. Rear travel is 9.45 inches. Front travel is 9.05 inches.

45 degree max climb angle.
43 degree side slope angle.
27.58" water fording.
Approach: 30
Departure: 20
Breakover: 21
8.9 inches of ground clearance.

Do those numbers compare to the 100 series? Or worse than the 100?

thanks for the pics i am goin to drive the lx 570 today and will try to post some pics tonight;

what did you think of the 4whl drv system (the elect switch)?? i am very old fasioned in that i like the lever and not switches any comments??? you mentioned the coil overs that i think is a good thing not sure of longevity but the aftermarket stuff will open up big time for that stuff and switching them out will be easier.

hey got to give you a thumbs up not every day you get to go wheeling in a new truck thats not yours and can scrap up a bumper and not worry about it:bounce2:

im in new jersey there is a lexus event at a six flags here and it starts this afternoon i'm sure press is doing there stuff now i get to go at 3pm the event is called a taste of lexus

This thing doesn't repulse me as much as it did when I first saw it in spy pics. Anytime a new model comes out it takes a while to warm up to it. Sometimes you never warm up to it !! That being said, I do like the front of it from straight on. The grill looks pretty good. The side view looks pretty bland, but it might have more character in person. The D-pillar is too thick. I wonder if it has anything to do with structural rigidity/roll-over protection? The rear looks way too much like a Sienna. Not good. Still, I think you are going to have to see it in person to get the full effect. Here is my main question since I am going to be buying a new SUV within the next 6 months.....

The RR trumps it in everything but reliability.

Range Rover
34 degree approach
26 degree breakover
39 degree departure
10.8 ground clearance

This is in offroad mode. The air suspension will also move 1/2 an inch if the underbelly scrapes something.

Also availble with rear locking differentials whereas it is not available on the 08 LC.

There is no comparison in the looks department. It also depends how many seats you need. We are running car pools all over the place and 7 to 8 seat capacity is mandatory.

In the HP corner the 381+ of the LC splits the 310 of the RR and the 400 of the RR S/C. Then there is the price difference that the LC pretty much holds an edge. The reliability issue has to factor in somewhere. My 1991 RR has been a very reliable vehicle, so I can't complain about it in that area. In the looks department the RR has the upper hand.

As long as the Rover dealership has a loaner vehicle you are good to go. However the loaner rovers in NC have stupid stickers all over them of jungle scenes. A guy at work is always driving the loaner lr3.

LC would be about $73,000+ out the door. I'll take the RR for that money. It also makes me wonder why they would canabalize their own LX570 sales... or kill the LC sales, depending on how you look at it.

LX570 has a nicer dash.
I'm struggling to see where the LC will stand with the Sequoia and LX570 biting at either end - and that's not including the competition!

From a product offering, the LC is a unique bird. Why in the world would Toyota continue to offer this thing? The LX is nicer and then you have the Sequoia that is larger. Then you have all the other offerings available from the competition.

I say knock 25k off the price, install twin turbo diesel and front and rear lockers and then see what happens. Offer all off road accessories offered in other parts of the world.

Also, why would you make sliders for a truck to 4 wheel and then not sell the sliders?

Does the new LC have AHC or similar? That seems to be the trend with Luxo SUVs with any offroad ambitions nowadays anyhow.

The RR is getting a bit long in the tooth now and the LC still needs to get ou the oven, so buying in 6 months might not be the best time. Maybe 18 months if you can wait.
