Ok, now I understand, it's an effective dust fighter. I've got nothing against snorkels, but shoot, sometimes it sounded like they added hp, made the vehicle waterproof, gave 2" of lift, improved traction on ice, and were an effective FDA approved replacement for Cialis. :)

Well, actually for some, a snorkel does work better than Cialis, Levitra, or Viagra.

I'm not sure that anyone has ever made the claim that they increase horsepower or any of that other stuff (well, they do give some people a hard-on, hehe...), but the dust argument and water-fording are valid. Ignition systems in petrol trucks can be made reasonably water-resistant (some even use neat tricks like running air lines to the distributor to pressurize it against water intrusion, stuff like that). Of course, that particular trick isn't needed on the 2UZ-FE, but I'm sure enterprising folks will improvise. And of course, not all of us drive petrols to begin with... ;)

edit: yeah, my 100 is a petrol, but it's not the truck that I put a snorkel on...
