I am looking for ideas on the tie-rod end mounting. I have seen pictures of the standard tab idea welded to the tie-rod. Simple and effective. Are there any other ideas out there. I have heard of a reliable tube clamp with tabs welded to that. It seems as though this would make adjustment easy, but adjustment here is something that's only done once, and left alone. Here is a pic of where I want my ram. Any ideas/experiences/tips, please feel free to add. Oh and the steering box is an FJ60 unit.

weld away, that is where mine used to be.

You have adjustment in the heim at the end of the ram as well. Get everything centered (or full lock compressed on the ram) and weld the dual tabs onto your TR.

I was going to weld a couple of these together

But quickly deemed them unessisary and expensive, adjust with the hymes.

Unfortunately both ends on my ram are fixed. I got it cheap!

I was figuring the dual tabs would be the most effective idea.

ThanX!

U bolt and plate setup like the ones used on the steering dampeners?

I think a double-shear tab on the axle housing would be fine, but those clamps for the tie-rod are nice..

Try ruffstuffspecialities.com for the tabs.. He's a cruiser guy, has fair prices, and the stuff is BEEF.. I'm using a bunch of it on my build.

The more I look at it the more I think my zip ties for eyeballing stuff might just work too.:flipoff2:

The way you drive, it probably will.. :flipoff2:

oh snap,

im in your boat trying to find ways to mount my ram.

im running out of ideas

I don't drive it it drives me. School bus steering wheel and all!

Damn I need a beater rig! Got no space at home for that though.:crybaby:

Buddy of mine made his own TR clamp out of tube... cut a slot in a short section, welded some threaded tabs on it and slipped it on the tie rod.

I don't have pics right now but I ran a Howe ram attaching to the diff and the tie rod. I kept the stroke parallel by custom gringing some brackets from 3/16 plate and welding to my tie rod. For the tie rod I usde 1.25 DOM tubing with a .120 wall, sleved with a lt/rt 7/8 heim on each side. I used the High steer knuckles from All Pro. Make sure the tie rod is beefy. If you get into a rut with anything else you will find out that the hydro ram will taco your tie rod. I know because the one that came from all pro lasted me about 2 hours on the trail. I will take some pics this weekend.
cheers
