if yall ever get full hydro, then you'll realize what you've been missing

Oh it WILL happen, I have been eyeing some orbitals and tryin to figure out what I need to do to my steering shaft. :hillbilly:

All is well after lengthening my pitman arm and modding my pump. Pumps should come like that from the factory...

I am using the TG ram also.

maybe i wasnt clear. For the most part it works really well even when twisted up pretty good. but at a complete stop and twisted up pretty good it gets a little stiffer and I am able to stall it completely on a few rare occasions. When Im rolling its never really even a concern but at a dead stop I mean.

If you're using a 1.5" ram that is a little under powered for a rig like a FJ60 or a FJ40 for that matter. I use a 1.75" ram and it works well in the rocks pushing my 39.5" Iroks.

If I go any bigger there is no way it would keep up, it already has a hard time when working the wheel.
I think a sag pump and full hydro should happen.

ORBITROL is just Char-lynn's brand name for a steering valve,
and to modify your steering column, just buy the little stub adapter for the valve, cut off the steering shaft past the firewall and weld on the stub. i believe there is one for 3/4 or 7/8" diameter shaft.

make sure you get your displacement matched to your cylinder, and set up with the open center hydraulics. the valves are usually less than $300, the adapter is I think around $30. you don't need a double sided ram either, you just have to occasionally force your steering wheel back to center, by pushing the pump over relief. of course double ended isn't much more expensive though.

I helped a guy do his toyota buggy, with 38" tires. he eventually decided to use a 1-1/2" cylinder though, to make it turn faster with the valve he got. it still had enough power to destroy his dana 60 knuckles.
