there was one last week but it went for 250..

That's crazy considering they could have bought one shipped new for 200 last month.

I would suggest that you get the oem jerry can carrier and make a mount to put the carrier on the spare tire.

con-ferr had a mount for the jerry can....this is mine...but...it would look cooler to have the oem can and carrier in that location IMO :)

I was thinking about the jerry can carriers that Ehsan has. Still thinking about picking one up. The problem is where to mount it. It's a little easier with a hard top but the soft top models there's just no place to put it. Don't want to give up the cowl side vents. Use them a lot here in AZ. A second tire carrier is not a problem since I have spares for both sides. The license plate bracket has to move from it's stock location. Not going to do that. The side would work okay for a hard top but with the soft top it's in the way of getting to the twists that hold the soft top on. One of my 25s came with the US jerry can holder. Those are low and you would just have to remove the jerry can to get to the twists. The the same problem with the side spare tire carriers on the soft top 25s. Probably why they move it to the back like the hard tops on the FJ40s. If you try and mount the Toyota jerry can holder on the back of the spare tire I think you'll find you have to have it stick out pretty far to get to the lug nuts. The Toyota carrier is a lot wider than the Con-ferr one. I'll probably just go with a Con-ferr one since it's would look period correct. Probably just use one of my old US jerry cans unless I can find a good deal like destin.

oem spare tire jerry can.webp

At first I would have said it was a 73 with the spare tire carrier added to the driver's side. Then I noticed the tailpipe on the passenger's side. The tailpipe started in 75 with the 2F. the footman looks on the tub of a hard top was a 72-74 thing. The stamped louver on the cowl started with the 72 model. Gas door STARTED WITH THE 73 model. 73 was the laSt model year of round tail lights. Barns doors ended in the US in 74 along with the two piece side doors. But because this is a RHD FJ40 who know what year it really is. Plus the barn door looks like it opens from the passenger's side first. So Johnny where this picture from OZ?

On a 68 to 73 the problem is where do you put the emblems, reverse light and license plate bracket. Other years you don't don't have to worring about the reverse light. Post 73 the lights were in the rear crossmember of the frame together with the tail lights. Pre 68 didn't have reverse lights. Emblem would be a problem for all but the early years that didn't get emblems. 64 or 65?

Kinda the same problem I'm looking at with the OEM fog lights. With a PTO winch and front license plate bracket. When you install a PTO the license plate moves out to the passenger's end of the bumper. The holes are there. But then there's no room to install the fog light in it's hole on that side:crybaby:
