Husky vs. WeatherTech vs. OEM

I have the OEM Lexus mats in my LX. Great quality, good price and cut out covers for the third row go edge to edge and don't slide at all. I live in Colorado and they protect from all the snow/slush/much we get.

I had Husky mats in my last Toyota and the 2nd and third row mats were terrible, (front seat mats were fine) stiff in interfered with seat operation. I junked them and went with OEM.

I bought Brown for the LX, contrasts nice with the black interior.

It is pretty easy to make a dead pedal cover that solves the weather tech coverage issue. 12x12 abs plastic sheet off Amazon, and some time with a heat gun. Add Velcro to keep it in place, done.

For those of us that bought rigs with WTs already in them, or bought WTs for theirs, this is a good option.

Just got my husky second row mat yesterday, I will reserve judgement until I have the front mats and some time on them. Initially impression is the husky mat is much harder and less grippy then the weathertecs we had in the 08. Fitment on the second row mat seems about the same but the husky has carpet spikes on the portion and that goes over the door sill. Easy fix with a razor blade but this seems like a silly design flaw and prevents the mat from sitting flush on the edge.

Have weather tech materials changed? I’ve had them in a half dozen vehicles over many years and none of them could be described as “grippy”, beyond the texture at least. I get that elastomers exist in a broad range of hardnesses (durometer) but the WTs I’ve had were all much closer to hard plastic than rubber.

Point is, I’m curious how husky could get noticeably less grippy/flexible without becoming brittle.

Agreed, this is very helpful. Any chance you'd be willing to do something similar for the cargo area? I have searched but have been unable to find pictures/video of the Husky liner. It seems the only options with an integral cover of the 3rd row foot area while retaining access to the 3rd row seat anchors are the Husky, WeatherTech, Canvasback and perhaps the Aussie cargo liner?

I’m of the thought that it needs to work for its intended purpose. My weathertechs are good, but not great. They warp and curl over time. They don’t look great now, but at the end of the day they work for what I need them to.

Case in point, filled up my cooler with ice from the bulk vending station and forgot to add in the drain plug when I went to run grocery errands for the next couple hours. Weathertechs keeps all my water spillage controlled

Without comparing them side by side its hard to give you an exact response. The weathertecs did have a bit of a textured finish while the Huskys are smooth so they may be contributing to my impression that they are harder/slicker.

Ah yeah that makes sense. The husky did seem to have a smoother texture in the pictures I’ve seen.
That texture could play into why WTs are so difficult to get truly clean

This is definitely true. I gave up trying to get mine totally clean due to the texture trapping dirt. It never really bothered me, though but I could see it driving people crazy if you are really anal about your detailing.

I just spray them at the car wash with the high pressure sprayer.

Weather tech has two lines. Their more rubbery version is called Weatherbeater or ACT2 I think. It’s the only one available for the 200 series. I know they still make the economy line versions for more standard vehicle. I have the Huskies for a few years and I really like them. Nothing against weather tech, But I feel like my feet just slide around too much

Having had both now, I think the Husky is a better product but its a very close call in my opinion. The Husky fit is near perfect but I did have to take a utility knife to the carpet spikes under the section that covers the door sill to get it to lay flat. The Weathertech Weatherbeaters cover farther up the side of the transmission tunnel but bafflingly do not cover the dead pedal... where I will 100% have a foot resting 100% of the time. The Huskys are a better option in my opinion just for this fact alone. But are similar materials and slick when wet. The Huskys clean up a tad easier since they are not as textured.

When I go on their website and enter 2011 LC (or LX 570), the only option for liners are their generic ones (not the WeatherBeater nice ones). No indication that they are backordered, etc. I emailed their customer support to ask if they will be making them again, and will post here if I hear anything interesting back.

Am I looking in the wrong spot?

I just upgraded from a 2008 4Runner to a 2011 LX 570. I had WeatherTechs in 1st and 2nd row, and Husky for cargo liner. They worked fine for me. But given all of the positive feedback on the Huskys, I was going to give them a try for the the LX in row 1 and 2.

If the Huskys, aren't available, I may try the 3D MAXpiders, at least for row 1 and 2. Is the Weathertech cargo liner for the 200 decent? For my 4Runner, it was a terrible fit and I went with the Husky, which was a much better product IMO (for that vehicle at least).

Try searching under the 2013 MY.

If I recall correctly, they fit it’s just that the 2013 and higher have the locking pins on the floor to keep it in place (front mats). That’s the only thing that makes them “incompatible“ with yours.

Don't waste your money on the weathertech cargo liner. It sucks!

So I just ordered the Huskys. FYI online it doubles the price when you select the color Tan. If you call them they will give them to you for the lower price and give you a 10% discount for your troubles.

Exact same thing happened to me so I ended up with Huskys. Curious to see if it would really be better than WeatherTechs, had them for years.
