Hi guys, sorry to bump a 2 month old thread, but I have a few questions about the install on a LC vs. a Tundra.

While looking through the Gen1 instruction manual, I noticed that it had specific LC/LX470 instructions, which requires different parts.

For example, on Step 58, it says for a Tundra to install a 1/8" NPT x 3/8" barb fitting by removing the 1/8" NPT plug. Does this mean that if I were to get a Tundra kit I would want to put a plug back into that hole?

On Step 61, it says to install the OEM throttle cable support bracket by drilling it out to 8 mm then using the "supplied" 25.4 mm (1.0 inch) spacer and supplied 8 mm bolt. I can almost guarantee a Tundra kit would not have that spacer, does anyone know where I could pick one up?

For the relocation brackets for the wiring by the firewall, does anyone know where I could get a pair of those as well? Do I need to ghetto-make mine with some aluminum?

Lastly, on Step 83, it talks about using the "supplied" aluminum spacers on the Passenger side cam cover. Are these spacers vital?

I'm still looking for my kit, but I'm probably going to end up with a Tundra variant. I tried looking for the information in other threads but I didn't find anything about the install specifically.

Thanks!

So I had a look at the TRD Installation Guide that you refer to, Step 58 is for the Sequoia and Tundra "only", it would appear that there is no need to connect a line for the Lexus or Land Cruiser, so, if the hole was open, then yes you would have to purchase a 1/8" NPT plug or put a cap on the barbed fitting,

Step 61 buy a small piece of 1/4" pipe and cut it to 1" in length, that will make a good spacer, buy an 8mmx 30 mm(x 125 thread) bolt
Step 83 (actually step 82 in my guide)you could use the rest of the 1/4" pipe to make spacers for these mounts, the supercharger raises the throttle body enough that you need to modify the mounting points, otherwise a poor seal between the throttle body and air intake could occur.

Hope you find one, it will leave a lasting impression on your seat : )

These TRD SC kits have gotten rediculous lately..

Going for $3500-$4000 used!

For an M90 based system with poor fuel and timing management.

I wish URD would hurry up with the rotrex kit and piggyback ecu before I get over anxious and build a set up

Is everyone just running reg 5w-30 oil with these SC units?

I was thinking a little heavier oil would help with cooling. Maybe 0w-40?

Just purchased a Hundy with a TRD SC installed by the PO with ~90k miles on the system. Today, the Upper Idler Pulley bearing grenaded taking out the V-belt and fan shroud. First time towing a cruiser home - tear in my beer. Anyways, as this seems to be THE thread - thought I'd post up the part #'s for anyone else crossing this bridge:
Upper: DAYCO # DAC-89003
Lower: DAYCO # DAC-89007
Luckily available almost everywhere.

Cheers.

Looking to purchase a used sc kit. The owner has showed me this picture of all the components the Toyota dealership gave after removing it. I see what I think is everything, does anyone know if anything is missing from this photo?

My LC is circa 2000, US version with 190k miles on it. Maintained well but is it too many miles to consider a SC? And how many additional horses will show up assuming I am not tuning it very aggressively?

I removed mine a about a yr ago so its not fresh. Hopefully the injector is in the back of the blower. Besides that, it looks complete.

If you have any doubts then don't. Theres always a risk on boosting any engine. I personally would. I might put mine back on. And theres no tuning if you're just running the trd ecu.

Why did you take your SC off?

Don't have any doubts, just want to make sure I won't have a dead engine within 2k miles :D

Any estimates on the power boost?

Engine overheated due to broken heater t. I swapped out for a lower mileage engine and was going to part with the blower to recoup the cost. It was peppy but no dyno numbers. I had a for sale thread but didn't want to let it go to low ballers so its been sitting on the shelf for a while. I

Ton504 - any chance you are willing to sell the sc kit?

Go to the advance search and look up my for sale thread. Send me an offer. I have a new set of colder iridium plugs/belt/pulley I can throw in.

If I get a clean/complete Tundra kit, can someone please confirm the additional parts required for LC100? This is the list, I have, so far:

So, how common is/was it for a Tundra 2UZ motor to have issues with a SC?

I'm installing a 2UZ in my '97 FZJ80 right now and was hoping to SC

First of all, thank you 00N8 for the detailed information and everyone else that has contributed to this thread.

Question: Is it possible to swap a 2000 Land Cruiser TRD supercharger over to a 2004 LX470 and swap parts from the LX470 back to the 2000 LC to make it run?

From what I read on the thread there are separate units for the 98-02 and 03-05? The difference being 9 injector vs. 10 injector. I am guessing that means the unit designed for the 2000 LC will not work on the 2004 LX470.

I really appreciate any input as I own both vehicles and it will be a hard decision which one to keep if the swap isn't possible. Also, please let me know if I should start a new thread for my question.

Thank you in advance.

I'm sending a Tundra SC in for a rebuild - installed by the previous owner running a unichip. 90k miles and no issues engine wise. I'm trying to track down a pulley alignment issue right now which is a pain. I would say it has proven reliable, other than going through serp belts and idler pulleys more often. You will need to carry spares of both. IMHO I wouldn't recommend it for a true bush truck.
