I've found a few sources for the hub rebuild kits and have a question about one of the sellers.

Has anyone used the kit from JT Outfitters? Most kits are $160 and up but theirs is 99.95 with bearings. I've heard mostly bad comments on the customer services. Has anyone used this kit or would it be better to go with someone like Marlin?

Marlin's seals are supposed to last much longer than the stock seals. That alone makes their kit VERY appealing since you usually rebuild the hubs because the seals gave out.

Kurt's the guy! But I would suggest the Marlin Seals, if they are available.

I got my stuff from Kurt this past summer as I converted to FJ60 disc brakes and would confirm what you are hearing from everyone else about him being a good to work with. He was able to provide me with the marlin seals. The wiper parts in the base kit consist of the rubber and felt, so make sure you hold on to your 1/2 circle metal pieces.

Are the NSK bearings in the Marlin kit the proper high-thrust type (3050A), or just a standard high speed 3050?

IIRC, JTO was trying to tell people that the 3050 generic they were selling was the same as OEM, when it plainly isn't.

x eleventy seven for Cruiser Outfitters.
