As I approach 60k miles on my 2008 - just curious how everyone else is doing ..

So far I have had no problems other than the TSB for the wobbly mirror :)

With 3 kids approaching college age I think this vehicle will need to stay in my stable for awhile ... Planning on getting 250k miles out of her...

Hope you guys are enjoying the 200 LC as much as I am

Cheers :)

why only 250,000 with 300,000 being such a sweet marker ;) 300k should be no problem as I have 230,000 on a '96 Discovery

:D

I drive around 15k "easy" Florida flatland miles a year ...

So 10 more years gets me to just over 200k

By that time I will be ready to trade her in for a 2023 model

Wow, so how much did it cost you in repairs get a 96 Disco to 230k miles? Actually, how would you rate your reliability for all three of your Rovers? Sorry for sidelining the thread.

Yeah, I could pm you or start new thread. I often joke that everything under the hood of my 96 disco got replaced except for the engine ;) For various reasons, last year I compiled all work done on the 96 disco which wasn't too hard seeing as 90% of it was all at one shop and during 2000-2007. The main thing is it never, ever, broke down on me. I never needed a tow and honestly, considering I put about 30,000 miles per year on it 2000-2005, it really held up well and is still running strong now.

Cost though, yes, that is the big factor. I imagine, or dream, that a Land Cruiser will simply not need nearly as many things replaced over the same mileage.

I have my 2008 200 with just now rolling over to 70,000 and only PM and the wobbly mirror TSB. (Well I did replace the seat heater switch but that was my fault) The more I drive the 200 the more I really love the car.

I had a LR3 and while it never broke down and left me stranded I did have many more days in a "loaner" car than any other vehicle I have owned in the last 30+ years. Great ride though.

BTW, still have the 1995 80 series with 160,000 miles and the 1996 4Runner with 210,000 miles and the only one of those that ever left me stranded...ever, was the 80 blew the PHH on the highway once. And you just can't repair that on the side of the road. The kids drive them now.

So far:

- TSB to replace the driveshaft clunk (~10k miles)
- New blower motor after it fried itself and filled the cabin with smoke (~20k miles)
- Serpentine belt needed to be replaced at 30k; should last double that.
- Brakes replaced; wear was okay but one rotor was warped causing a really minor, annoying pulse so I replaced the entire set with some upgrades (39k)
- Miscellaneous electrical glitches such as the passenger seat-belt chime going off even when there is no one in the seat, and the headlights not shutting off in 'Auto" mode.

I have to say I've been a bit disappointed. We had an incredible experience with our '96 Corolla years ago and I expected the LC to be equally, if not more trouble-free but that has not been the case. Assuming nothing major goes wrong, I plan on keeping this many more years however this will likely be my last Toyota.

I'm at about 55K on a 2009. Taking it in for a routine Yellow oil service next week and will have the driveshaft replaced. I did the brakes at about 30K when they really started squeaking....and they're starting to really squeak again when braking. Is that about the life I should expect from them, 25 to 30K?

Other than that, things have been pretty good. I'd like to hang on to my LC for a long time but when I see the upgrades in the 2013 (HID/LED and cosmetic changes, ventilated seats, USB rather than AUX, mobile apps) I get tempted...

I've got just over 47,000 miles on my 2013 and have not had any issues. I did just have the front brakes done, and next week I'll be putting on a new set of tires (still originals).

Just getting warmed up...

You've got 47K miles on a 2013?

And you had time to pull the truck over and post this message?

:p

I have driven a ton this year. It started off with a 4,500 mile run through 9 states going to Yellowstone National Park with the family. It was a great break-in ride, and the truck has been solid ever since.

I am going for 400,000.

Quick update: I pulled up my excel spreadsheet and made a total box for all work from 2000-2008/181,815 miles (all but 4000 of those miles were actually during 2000 - mid 2006 when I bought a new vehicle. Coincidentally, all but $4000 of the cost was also during the 2000-2006 period)

This does however include all basics such as oil changes in addition to repairs. It also includes any "mods" which were parts and labor at indy Rover shop but add a little $. These were dual battery set up, a few extra 12v sockets, spring and dampers. I think was it.

$37,273 / 181,815 miles / = wow ;)

This is pretty interesting really and pertinent to the thread now. I really wonder what a comparable Land Cruiser at the time would have cost to purchase. It was 1999 but I bought a used Discovery for about $25k although I don't have the exact price paid. 1999 would have been 2 years after the last LC80 and being in the slightly used market, I wonder what a few years old LC would have cost to buy. My guess is I could have easily afforded it as I wasn't really shopping by "payment" and had $5000 cash to put down on the Disco.

It seems safe to assume that a 90's LC would not have then cost me $35,000 in maintenance and repairs over the following 181,815 miles. :(

The Disco is still running well though and has not cost too much now that my mom drives it every week but not too much.
