i got iPhone 7 plus a couple weeks ago. I have been using proclip which mounts basically on top of the center drivers side vent.

That worked ok, although I wasn't ever a fan of it. I do like proclip for the fact the mounts are pretty solid. But I do not like the options I have for 2006 LX.

Now that I have the bigger version of the iPhone, that same mounting location has my windshield wiper lever hitting my phone. And this is without a case!

I'm curious how you all have your big ass phones mounted. Pictures would be great. I use my phone hands free, and use it for music and maps so I need to be able to have access to it while driving.

I've attached a picture of the mount installed that I will use until I can find a better option.

Update cause I'm dumb. When the steering wheel comes down, the wiper lever isn't hitting it. But I still want a different option.

I stick my 6s plus in the ash tray with a koozie inside for protection

I use this on the vent to the left of the nav screen. Works great. Just used it from NY to NC and back.

Mine is far to complex, big and heavy, plus the galxy is just far bigger than a Iphone, but it give me about 2" rathios of motion..

I like it a lot, very stable and easy to control (Everything slides no need for tools.

I used to use those vent holders as well but it would cause my phone to overheat when it was cold outside and I had the heat blasting. I made the switch to the Ram X-Grip along with the Ram Pod Universal Mount that mounts to the existing seat rails (no holes needed to be drilled). You can mount it to the drivers seat rail or passenger - your option. Holds very well and allows me to turn it horizontally while navigating via Motion X or other GPS app. Doesn't get in the way of my knee (although if you have larger knees then it might; just mount it to the passenger seat rail)

Ram mount X-grip to hold the phone here BUT I first removed the tape player guts then made a plate to go in it's place and have a ball mount coming out of the slot for the grip!
Afterwords I added a second arm to hold my cb mic as well.

The only and really critical drawback of that set up is that you need to take your eyes from the road to look at the screen..

Optimal the screen need to be on the same field of vision or at least peripheral..

I have this also. The magnet is really strong, 6plus has never fallen off, even off-road. I have the schosche magnet that sticks to the dash on the others. Will change it to one of those when I find the perfect place. Tried a few others before I found this type. Small, with various options to swivel if needed. Convenient, cause all you do is get it close to the magnet and it pulls it in firmly.

This looks promising! What are the specs on the plate inside the tape deck!?

When you remove the deck you are left with 4 studs pointing up with treads already in them! I used a scrap of 14 gauge sheet metal, cut to fit and debur. Welded a bent piece of 10g to the plate so it would poke through the slot just enough. Drilled a hole to bolt the base ball n painted black to disappear.
Did not loose any stereo functions by removing the deck even tho I never really use radio and rarely the cds! I have a hard wired iPhone interface on the back of the head unit.

That is genius bro! If I ever get the chance to upgrade to a newer Hundy I'll be doing this.

I have 4-5 RAM mounts from my Tacoma as it had a TechDeck in it so mounting my Note4 and iPad were easy.
Also have a suction cup windshield mount for my iPad Air, but I'm going to be honest I'm really close to just mounting a 4-hole 1" ball mount on the dash and calling it done. However I never liked the screen to be seen by everyone around the vehicle on the road. Testing will continue.

I don't want to drill through enything permantly, I am curious about the seat belt bolt notebook mount though.

I'm currently using a pro clip on both my 2000 & 2004 for my Note 4. Sturdy, but block the life support vent, and a little low for my liking. I had a suction cup on the dash that finally died, the summer heat is brutal on the suction cups. On top of the dash is really the best place for them in terms of not taking your eyes of the road. I'm getting closer to just drilling through the dash pad, at least on the 2000...

Can you expound on the way it secures to the lower cover area?

Also I see you have a couple "4" screw patterns in the lower pic, were you trying RAM mounts there?
