That's good, I'd also send a note to Toyota corporate and say that they refused to service you at a toyota dealership.

feel like that is petty...but I do wonder if that’a a common experience. Kinda strange to say a wheel balancing will “open a can of worms”
 
I think that refusing to look at tires on a vehicle based on age feels a bit petty. Toyota spends ALOT of money on reliability testing and providing support info to their dealers. Letting corporate know that you couldn't get service at toyota and had to go to mazda will probably wake them up a bit.

I'd agree. You're not driving a dime-a-dozen Corolla—it's the flagship of the fleet.
