How to Remove FJ60 Rear Quarter Glass

One last question: I have had to replace one of the seals. I noticed that the factory seal was "sealed" to the glass on the outside (only) with some type of adhesive/sealant between the glass and the rubber. I am assuming this was done at the factory since I don't think anyone has removed this glass before now (but, not certain).
This seemed to be like some kind of butyl rubber related sealant as near as I can tell. Not similar to something like 3M weatherstrip adhesive. It certainly was not placed in any kind of consistent, even bead.. It was pretty spotty and uneven, with many gaps.
Is there a recommendation for a material to use here, if I am going to replicate this? And, was this used as a sealant to keep the windows watertight, somehow, or just as something to help keep the seal in place on the glass when trying to put the glass/seal assembly back onto the body?

The FSM says to apply butyl tape to the body before installing the window. Seems to me it would just get peeled off with the rope when you install the glass, but maybe not...

That's interesting, because there was absolutely nothing, no adhesive of any kind, no butyl tape, between the rubber seal and the body on my car when I removed the window a couple of days ago. It was just rubber up against the bodywork. And, luckily, the paint underneath was pristine, no sign of rust, and I know it's original paint under there, so I would have seen if there was any kind of residue from butyl tape, or anything else, between the body lip and the rubber seal. The only adhesive, which actually did have a butyl look to it, was between the outside surface of the glass, and the rubber. And it was spotty. I can't see how that would do much in the way of keeping moisture away from the body, like the tape between the rubber and the body might.
Maybe there was a new guy on the line that day.
Because of where the, let's call it butyl, was on my glass, that is why I thought that it might just be there to stabilize the seal on the glass during install. Now, I am not so sure what I should do when reinstalling this, though I guess the fact that there was no sealant of any kind between the rubber and the body, and it was rust free after all this time, unlike the rest of the car, means I can't go too far wrong either way.

Also, the diagram appears to be for a sliding window, and perhaps that is differently installed.

I've just removed my two rear side windows from my aussie 60 series = iI' trying to carefully remove me headliner. I couldn't find much info on online other than a post mentioning the side windows just glued in and needs to be pried away from body.
It was actually that simple. I cut the black window sealant (with a trimming knife) and pushed the window out - with someone one the other side pulling it. There were no clips, no tricks, no screws - simply sealant.
I've added a before and after photo below.

You didn't have to cut the gasket .
