How rare are these??

Rarer than 40's not as rare as 45's or 25's. You can maybe find one for that price problem is here on the east coast it will probably be rusted to heck, as mine was. Youd be better off spending more and getting one from out west and shipping it. Where are you at in NC? I got mine from Newport News which isnt horribly far from the NC border and I have seen a couple others in areas of VA not to far from NC. Or if you want to come to SC I know of a good project waiting to be made pretty again.

West coast here, but the most recent local one I saw was a 1975, had minimal rust everywhere besides fenders, V8, decent condition. It was going for $3800. So there is your perspective. They show up on ebay a lot, but are usually pretty beat up or restored beyond the point of affordability.

A daily driver FJ55, especially on the East Coast, is going to cost you a lot more than $3,500, I'd factor around $8K for something really decent.

I was wondering the same thing - that's why I resurected this relic.

Numbers wise, how many do you think are left on the roads,

I don't care if its daily driveable, just towable. and not transparent due to rust.

Im in the Middle of Building a 60, so I can't get one right now anyway, but it seems like there are fewer and fewer every day.

I looked on Denver Craigslist and ebay today, there is not a single Pig for sale in any condition.

I have posted a few links to craigslist. The usual I dont know any of these people nor am I making any money, etc... apply.

The FJ45 to my memory.. which is shot due to all the fun seizures I have been experiencing, was not sold in the United States. Maybe a few but most were imported. this is for all 45 series cruisers. The FJ40 was one of the most imported cruisers prior to 1980.

The FJ55, FJ56, etc... was made from 1968 to 1980. If you find an 1968 then buy it.... there were very little made and that is by far the most rare FJ55. 1980 FJ55's were really just left over 1979 FJ55's and left over bodies that Toyota wanted to finish off and sale. There were only about 113,000 FJ55's made between 1968 and 1980. Each year had different production numbers. As I have stated before I used to have a japanese link that had all the production numbers, what kind of FJ55's were made, and how many came to North America. I think that maybe 20-30% came to the USA CAN and maybe MEX. So lets say in 1977 there were some 7700 made. About 1600 of those where divided between the USA CAN and MEX. The link has since vanished. On top of low production numbers and being more then two decades, wrecks, parting out, cutting up for buggies, crushin at junk yards, rotting in fields, etc... those numbers are a hell of a lot lower these days. There are pockets within the US were 55's are more plentiful. Some States have no 55's at all. From my own experience California, Oregon, Washington, Colorado have many 55's. Anyway its just my own two cents worth. I am sure some will have their own opinions... which is cool.

Hard to find stock and original Landcruiser. Factory radio, rare dealer A/C, Power Disc Brakes, 4 speed and 4x4. Strong inline 2F Six Cylinder engine.

Original Floor mats in very good condition. Rear power window works perfectly.

New Toyota OEM Windshield, Toyota Tech Valve adjustment and inspection.

This is a driver, not one of those "with a little work could run" projects.
Very Southern Arizona vehicle, so it isn't a rust rocket like so many of these.

Drive it home $ 3950 Firm

they do occasionally pop up in denver, but if you're in a hurry, you'll have to travel. they are fairly plentiful...heck, there's five for sale in the first page of the piggie classifieds right now.

The're hard to find in Denver because Ige is hoarding all of them. :flipoff2:

She missed mine, or maybe saw it and didn't want it. :)

I punched FJ55 into Craigslist one day, saw two listed, liked one and sent the owner an email. After sending it I noticed it had been listed for over a month and figured it was gone. I got an email back in a few minutes and owned it (with emissions contingency) a couple hours later.

Yeah,

I guess they're still out there just have to work to get a decent one, Thanks you guys. Some day i hope to be among those that covet the Swine!

With numbers like 130,000 piggys are downright plentiful when compared to FJ45LV's! I've heard the FJ45LV had production numbers in around 5,000!!

cruiserguy.......

Dude... no need to blow a gasket... No need to get all worked up about this. Ive only had one FJ45LV. I do not know the production numbers. I pretty much pooled all 45 series together. Sorry if that offended you in some manner. Plus I dont remember this being pointed at you or anyone else. Maybe you should re-read what I said EH! This thread is about the 50 series as this is the 50 series Forum.

There were only 113K 50 series ever made not 130K. That is a very small number compared to today's standards where they make like 700,000 to 1.5mil a year of the same truck or car, etc... (just an example of production numbers not to be taken literally) So yes the FJ55, FJ56, etc are rare. I owned a vehicle that only a couple hundred where made. Big deal huh!! If it is your goal to turn this into a pissing contest like Toll did in another thread... then have fun.

===========================================================================================

Any on to what Macdaddy was curious about. I posted some ad's from Craigs that might help you along. I wish I could be of more help. As some of my friends in the cruiser world already know I have been recently diagnosed with temporal lobe epilepsy. Accident at work. The doctors are still trying to get my med's right. I am still having seizures. I get worn out pretty fast, not to mention when idiots get all pissy and take things personal and have to be an ass about it.

This is the link that used to have the production numbers of all 50 series. The information was from Toyota so it is accurate.

http://a-tsuri.hp.infoseek.co.jp/fj55v.html

It is no longer a working link. He also had other cool Toyota 50 series stuff on the website. Maybe someone can hero up and write the guy asking for the info so we can have it here.

Minipigg nice of you to post the 55 info, I've always been curious about just how many were produced.
I don't think Cruiserguy said anything negative regarding your info he was just making a statement, and he got the number wrong, big deal!
And like you said let's not turn this into a pissing contest.
I'm reaaly sorry to here about your health issue, that's got to be hell to deal with.
All the best to you ,

Lou
