My brother wants my 83 FJ60 as-is and I am not sure how much to ask for it???

The reason I parked it was because I kept having clucth & H55 front retainer breaking issues, figured out that the mechanic had used the wrong adapter, among other things. I finally decided that I did not want an adapter between the motor and transmission & sold the H55, I bought an '03 NV4500 along with Adnvance Adapter bell housing and the AA adapter to mate tranny to TC. I am/was in the process of putting it back together but starting to lose interest and decided to look for a newer FJ Cruiser.

I know I will not get the thousands of dollars I've spent on it... So how much should I ask for it?

Body is in decent shape, a couple of dents and minimal rust. I have a new gallon of summit paint for it

Off the top of my head, here is what is has on it:

5.3L vortec
NV4500/AA Adapters
rear Aussie locker
rhino lined floor/topped with dynamat
Smittybilt front seats
Samurai 3rd seat in the back
OME lift
American racing wheel
33x12.5 BFG AT's
4-Runner calipers up front
Homeade rear bumper w/tire carrier & 2 jerry can holder 1/4" steel
Homeade front bumper 1/4" steel

Thanks,

well I like the Hundy's too.

You're right. Get what you want. I just think the 100's are a bargain right now (compared to a newer FJ Cruiser).

Dave,

what do you call a bargain? Most of the ones on CL have high mileage. I don't want another wagon that I am goin to drop a lot of dinero into and then have more issues.

Found 2 in SA with somewhat decent mileage. one the first one, I had emailed the guy last week and here is his reply...

"We bought the Landcruiser from Cavender Toyota in San Antonio when it was 1 year old. We have had all work done to the vehicle there since we bought it. I have all of the paperwork for everything ever done.
It has brand new tires, we just had the timing belt replaced as well as the manifold covers pulled, cleaned and resealed.
It only has 132k miles on it (very low) and looks and runs great. Being as old as it is - it is not in perfect condition but is in pretty good shape.
It has an Alpine Stereo in it with Kicker Subwoofer.
We have put around $5K into it over the last several months.
I will send you some additional information this evening."

Also, FJ Cruisers are not cheap. supposedly the are discontinuing after this year and people/dealers are asking market price.

Not supposedly, the 2014 model year is the last one. As a former owner, you don't want one. The interior is the cheapest application of plastic ever, especially for a Toyota/

What makes the plastic any cheaper than my '08 4-runner?

Does sliding cardboard across it scratch it?

That bad? I've looked at a couple of '08's thru '10 and the don't look that bad

That white one in SA looks pretty good. What exactly did he fix for $5k? The biggest expense on my old 100 was the timing belt/water pump 90k service. The engines are really dependable and are easy on the oil and belts.

Look for a 1998-2000 model. That will be your best bang for your buck. The 1998-99 had locking rear diff's and the 2000+ have ATRAC (simulates locked front and rear diffs).

Let me know if you want to test drive my 100. It's the most comfortable/dependable cruiser I have owned and is awesome on long trips.

I just picked this one thinking that I was going to sell it but decided to keep it.
Selling the family hauler (Honda odyssey) and using this one instead.

I am a Fan of Fjcruisers, and the sports car esque blind spots dont bother me at all. If you can drive a 350z or vette new camaro, you can drive an FJ cruiser without complaint.

I'd take a camo green or matte blackroof cap on black model if you made me choose.
