Nothing like your first time. Be gentle. :D

Easy there Quazii :o :o

Here's a pic of mine on the ceiling. Had a block and tackle to hoist it off at first but garage door wouldn't clear so went to straps instead. PITA but it's out of the way. :bounce:

wow man, how high is the ceiling in your garage? (or how small is your door?) i'm not sure mine would fit in between the roof and the open door

Top has to weigh at least 150 lbs. I managed to get one off by myself, but my back regreted it later. I weigh about 160.
The best way to defeat the post is to cut them off with only 3" remaining.

Rogers are you sure its not a soft top you are talking about? theres no way a single person can carry a FJ40 top successfully.

ok ok i think you missed the fact that i use a B-Ball crain to take it off the 40 and then once its on the ground i get under it and walk it to the side of my house. i think that is harder to move the top around with others than by my self. I still think that its like 60~80 lbs and i will go and weigh it right now...

I weigh 145 lbs, and I guarantee it weighs more than I do.

edit: Maybe you have a fiberglass hardtop instead of the original one?

or maybe he has an early top...my corrugated top doesnt' way s*** compared to the lift gate and amby door tops. or maybe he's doing the top without a lift gate...have you ever picked up one of those gates..they ain't light.

in the garage LOL!

^has anyone made a pully system in the garage to lift it off..........

When you want to put it back on simply lower it down, I am debating on taking mine off shortly.................will be a first for me, and the cruiser.
i cant get any of my cruisers in the garage.i will agree, i can get under my h-top and lift on my back to move it around the yard a bit.[ that also does a number on the gel-coat on the fiberglass.]

i dont think the weight is the prob for all of us its the circus balancing act you must do with it after unless you dont care and let it drop to the ground
