i searched and could not find this answered anywhere..

Here are the specifics;

I am selling my hardtop and doors and need to know roughly how much they weigh. I do not have access to scales to weigh them, but i was wondering if someone else has done this... the top is off an 68 FJ40 if that is needed info.

thanks,
Garvin

never mind...

i see Scott is on top of this and beat me by a few minutes...

thanks anyway,
Garvin

i think mine is liek 60lbs for the hard top because i use to have a boat that weigh about that, and they fell the same when im walking around my house with them on my back. I would think the doors are around 35lbs each

gotta be more

than 60lbs. that thing is all steel and glass. take me three to four people to get mine off. i'm figuring a good 150 lbs at least!the doors combined are probably at least 60lbs

I'm with you, had to be about 150#s.

no way i lift mine off on a bball hope and get under it and walk it over to the side of my house. 80lbs tops.

150 sounds about right... although the pain in the :censor: are those bars that stick down about 8 inches or so, and lifting the top from the inside with the roll bar on... It's the kind of thing that makes life interesting...

Yeah, it's 150 lbs easy, maybe more. I took out the side glass, the end glass, and the doors (of course) so that my wife and I wouldn't have hernias taking off the top and it still was heavy and awkward. Agree about those pins and the rollbar.

Heavy

It feels like 400 lbs when it's above your head and those stupid door pegs are stuck on your rolll cage. My short friend was on his tippy toes on my front seat trying to get the roof high enough to get it off the truck, God bless TOYOTA for making parts out of steel!!!

the worst is when you start lowering it and oops damn that smashed my finger cuz your buddy let go of his side

^has anyone made a pully system in the garage to lift it off..........

When you want to put it back on simply lower it down, I am debating on taking mine off shortly.................will be a first for me, and the cruiser.

you can buy them, ive seen them before be nice so you could do it by yourself

You mean something like this?

Yep, looks like about $50 worth of rope and hardware to me.

Yep, after doing it once I made up a hoist in my barn for next time - trial coming up soon.

I just use my 35 ton crane, no problems yet. LOL. I would say the top has to weigh 150-200 lbs. Rogers are you sure its not a soft top you are talking about? theres no way a single person can carry a FJ40 top successfully. When I did it by hand it took 4 of us, and my little brother spotting in the inside to make sure it went smooth.

I can take the top on and off my spring over crusier by myself. I just put it on my back and I use a step ladder and walk it off the rear. :flipoff2:

Does anybody here do squats? :flipoff2: Jeez, get out from under your trucks and hit the gym and you will realize how light 200 lbs. is for your legs to carry, with a little bit of work. Granted you have bulk to consider, but really.

Im not saying that 200lbs is too heavy for one person. I was refering to the wieght of 60 lbs. I do agree it is mainly the size of it, and the fact that you ahve to pikc it up 8" and then carry it down a ladder (unless you jump with it, and use it as a parachute). I just think that it would be safer/smarter if you had at least 1 extra person. less chance for damage to you and your top.
