If you have an UltraGauge, you need to calibrate it for your larger tires.HI Im ganna bring this back from the dead! I'm new to mudd, I bought my 80 about 2 months ago. So far I've done the basic tune up (cap, rotor, plugs, wires, rear 02, and cleaned the maf/ throttle body). I was wondering how I corrected for the 35s? OH and my ultragauge says I'm averaging 11.1 mpg. Thanks!
If you have an UltraGauge, you need to calibrate it for your larger tires.
Secondly, your 35's are 12.9% larger than you factory tires so your REAL gas mileage is 12.9% HIGHER than what was recorded on your odometer because it is now running 12.9% slower than you are actually moving.
So, your REAL mileage is 12.53 MPG, right on the mark. No issues, that's about normal.
If you want to find out how to get better gas mileage, buy a Subaru. Also do a search for "gas mileage for my 80" and they all end up in the same place.........
You're looking at final drive ratios.Hey BILT, how would the calc change if one is running 315/75/16s aka 35s, but regeared from stock to 4.88s?
Change it to .95 and you'll be right on.Class is in session!
What I’ve been doing is whatever miles at fill up x .97 / gallons pumped to get my approx mpg. I’ve been sitting at 12 mixed, 13 hwy on my 250K powertrain.
K02s are more like 34-34.5.
Thanks, BILT!

Three weeks ago I did 385 miles on mine with the same setup sans roofrack and still had two gallons. I was shocked!8I did 363 miles from Moab to Boulder on ~23 gallons, no stops, never stopped rolling. Can anyone top that without an additional fuel tank? Stock engine, stock gears, 285/75/16 Duratracs, bumpers, thick rack and RTT, me and one passenger and gear. Drafted a semi from a safe distance for a really long time on I-70 on the Western Slope. Otherwise I definitely wouldn't have made it.
