Hi there, I have a mild/moderate exhaust leak on the left side that goes away when warmed up. I've been reading doug thorley header threads, and noticed a couple that just turned out to be loose bolts, not cracked manifold. How involved is it to check the bolts, or is it one of those things where I might as well replace the manifold if I'm that far in there? Any guides or advice welcome.

Thanks!
Cedar

There are two bolts per exhaust port, so 8 bolts on each side of the engine. Some are very easy to get at. Others are a total PITA. You can use a bunch of different extensions and get to most of them. Some require crowsfoot wrenches to tighten correctly. Some can be done with a spanner or a socket.

Do you think I can get to them without loosening the motor mounts?

Yes, most of them, but it's a PITA. You can access many via the front wheel wells, once you remove the plastic rivets from the mud guards. Others you can access from the top. Some are easier to access from underneath, using a number of extensions.

I’ll take a crack at it and let you know!

Are you replacing a cracked manifold? If so, do you mind reporting back if you did it without lifting the engine? I’ve had a crack for years and just keep putting it off.

Not planning on replacing manifold at this time. Just tightening all the bolts I can reach and at the same time inspecting as best I can in-place for cracks. If I find cracks or simply tightening doesn’t work, I’ll probably replace with DT headers using the usual method.
