I run 265/70R17 Michelin Defender LTX on these TRD rims with no trimming, heat gun, or rubbing.
The spare DOES go in, but you have to put one side up into the spare area first.

Speaking of over sized spares, I wonder if the new GX's and LC's have allowed room for over sized spare tires since they're pressing the "off road" abilities and when you do that, of course folks are going to want larger tires. Maybe I'll poke my nose in the GX550 forum and ask.

Maybe talked about elsewhere as well, but they started a dedicated one haha.

I am surprised the OP had difficulty sourcing used wheels/tires from LA. I buy/sell secondhand wheels all the time and have never had a problem - you can usually find stuff way cheaper and in great condition through marketplace.

But new Lexus is turbo …

here's what i found...

18" oem rim weight: 32lbs
oem 265/60/r18 mich. defender 30.5". 36.99lbs
total wheel weight. 68.99lbs

bought:

RIMS
Method MR316. 25.16lbs - 26.12lbs, 8", 2650lbs/tire. 5.51" backspace. +25 offset (same as stock)

TIRES 255/75/17
Firestone Destination x/t. 41lbs. 32.1". upto 118mph (T). 50k mi wrty. 648.80 rotations per mile. load E

total weight oem: 68.99lbs
total weight aftmkt: 67.12lbs

went up 2" in size, dropped a little weight at the tires. no change in mpg's either.

this wheel combination will fit without problem in the spare location. i dont have a trailer hitch at present, nor kdss spacers.

rubbing occurred very rarely in the front only. just changed the offending bolt to a lower profile screw head and removed a small square piece of plastic screwed in the front of the front wheel wells. no bending needed.

VERY happy w/ this set up, driving & handling.
