How do you tow your '60?

Thanks for all the advice here. Good thread... I don't want to go the diesel route and everything I have read means it is going to be a bad gig on a 5.3L and the tranny. Gonna have to figure out something else if I want to use it out on the lease and keep it at home.

I tow my FJ60 behind our motorhome all the time with a tow bar. I have a brake buddy that applies pressure to the 60's brake pedal to stop, but also towed without any brake device many times. Our motorhome has a Ford F53 chassis, and has no problem stopping the 60. You don't even know it's there except on up hills. We also tow a 20' Featherlight trailer most of the time (not at the same time as the 60) and I feel we stop, climb and handle about the same...No problem. We have a full Banks kit on the V10 with the transcommand. Works well.

When we tow the 60, I put the transfer case in 2H. I did this after many talks with the guy's at SOR, and TLC. Both said one of the bearings in the TC will not get enough lube without the main shaft turning everything. We have towed over 6000 miles with no issues.
