How do you remove seat brackets?

The driver's side one I cut out even with the floor.

On the passenger side I got smarter and cut it about halfway up and cut a 2x4 rec tube to fit inside the channel. Much stronger.

They are flanged and welded to the floorpan.

If you wanted superclean you could drill out the spot welds with a spot weld cutter.

The last time I removed front seat mounts for the factory bench... was back around 1998... I used a drill bit made to drill out spot welds and then used a chisel to seperate them off the pan. Worked rather well.

I used my 4" angle grinder with one of those thin cutting disks. Here are my before and after pics.

Watch out for the structural pieces that run underneath the pig's floor, I was very close to mine. I plan on moving the driver's side seat back a little more to clear better.

I used the raised round area as my level reference surface that I rested my straight edge on. I used those values to decide what size spacers to use. Passenger it was 3/4" and drivers it was 1.5" That takes care of 3 of the mounting points, I used Hardened washers to spacer out the 4th point.

Note: I think the driver's side spacer is a little high, maybe 1.25" is better, but I will decide that when I do the painting and interior work in a couple months.

These pics show the high point on the floor I chose and the spacers I used.
