How can you tell if it's a '25?

Hey Rigger, what you'd be taking off the 25? Did you have a chance to check out the frame? It looks decent enough to drop an 'F' in, and other early 40 parts, to get her up and going again. Once she's running you can sit back and enjoy her, or keep hunting down the 25 stuff she's missing...I would not part her out...but that's just my .02 :)

Anyone passing through MT on their way to VT, upstate NY, or best case Montreal? If so I'd just take her as is, if the ride isn't too expensive...could always use a spare everything I guess  I am not in a rush though, so keep that as a last case if no one steps up.

Actually, truth be told, the guys here in the 25 group are class acts all the way, and I was lucky enough to meet great people here (like, John, Phil, Mike, and Jim...who's help, guidance, and advice I completely appreciate...just to name a few) that have offered to trade, or sell to me, some of the really big 25 items I'll really need.

Thanks guys :beer::beer::beer:

Dean

PS...may be silly, but I'm in for the reflectors.

Again, keep me as a back up for everything under, and in the tub, (springs, frame, axels, tranny...etc), that no one else claims...just can't let it go to waste.

Can you put stuff on a skid or palet?

How you planning on breaking down the cost?

Has anyone contacted Steve...could he not use these doors?

Dean

Lemme clarify: If someone wants to buy the frame and/or tub, I'll assist. But I cannot go buy it and park it at my place and wait for someone to come fetch it. I lack the room for it in my garage, and if I left in front of my house, my neighbors would not be happy!

The engine, tranny, and transfer case are all GONE. The axles remain, though. The stock wheels are GONE.

If someone wants other parts, offer up a price and I'll see what I can do. Archie spoke first for the turn signal lever, the steering wheel and the gas cap. I'm gonna try and get them. Archie, what is your budget for these? What is your shipping budget?

John, if you wish, I can get those two doors and stash them in my back yard. You'll have to pay for them and come get 'em when you can. Do you want 'em? I am going to get the interior door handles for myself, though.

The VIN was very hard to see. I squinted at that thing for quite a while before I could read it.

FJ25-20835

There might also be a zero in front of the F.

Yep, there's a zero in front, it would be a 1960, about twelve trucks ahead of mine on the line. Fox has the tag that's missing to match the frame if someone goes that route.

Sounds like a good plan, that will save the good tidbits and then if anyone wants to salvage the tub and frame they can talk to you directly. Thanks for posting it up, you don't know how rare it is for those parts to just pop up.

Nice, real nice...you guys slice and dice a 25 in my backyard just to see if I'll surface and join the frenzy...didn't work!:flipoff2:

If the carcas needs a place to stay while the vultures circle I can be there in about three weeks to pick it up, no charge.

and here I thought you had already picked through what you wanted off of it ;)

He is alive I was beginning to wonder. I could use some where to store the doors until the skinny wheel get together next summer. Could use them for the early 40 hard top. that is unless someone buys it before then.

John

Well I was really looking at that option, but just too far for a 25 hard top tub...I would be looking for a soft top tub floor, and frame...although I am pretty sure the frame would be the same.

I did do some searches for shipping, and got some really good written quotes from a company called Old Glory Freight...anyone know, or use these guys? F engine/tranny/transfer, all attached, in one 400lb crate, around $200 for a business to business ship from Fontana CA to Albany NY...this sound right?

You'll be over here near Billings? Please clarify.

Phil lives on the other side of the state. As far as 25's go I would say he's travelled further for less. ;p

He's on the "road" a lot, by the sound of it he'll be back in three weeks. ;)

I am offering to be that someone. As in buy it at the negotiated price frome the yard and hold it for whoever needs whatever. I can be there in a couple weeks, all deals you make for this that or the other knick-knack can and will be done whenever...I kinda have a junkyard and my neighbors claim they don't mind. Not alot of proffit motive here, gas will cost me more than the rig is worth, "false economist" or "mesiah syndrome", take your pick. Just don't let the rig go to waste, OK?

All:

I went back the other day to have another look and to try and grab a few parts for Archie. No one was there, so I was unable to get anything.

FJnotCJ, you seem to be the logical one to scoop this thing up. You are close by, and you have the means to haul it. Send me an e-mail sometime. As soon as I can, I'll bring you in the loop on the location. There are a few other things right in this same yard that I'm trying to keep a lid on, so that's why I'm being secretive.

Someone in this thread asked if they could get the frame. I can't remember who, and I can't find the post, either.

My tendancy to acquire junk and drag it home can sometimes turn into a hard sell at home. So I am not going to be the next owner of this thing! Plus, as I said, I don't have the room for it.

I'm glad to hear that someone wants to save this '25.

Tell me when you'll be in the neighborhood, FJnotCJ. Okay? I'm offering free '40 rims and tires so you have a rolling chasis to take home!!

Phil the FJ25 Messiah. :D Some must be sacrificed, so that others may live.............................. ;)

Sounds good Rigger, and thanks, I'll be in touch...any Nissan Patrols in that yard?

Two "S"s in Messiah huh? I'll have to remember that....

And don't forget with FJ40 wheels your going to need wheel spacers for the front axle:idea: I still remember driving all the way to the Oregon coast to pickup my second FJ25 with a set of disk brake wheels and tires only to find out they wouldn't fit. Ended up using the best of the dry rotted bias tires to flat tow it back to Phoenix. Then used them again to tow it to the cabin. Funny all four tires are still holding air.

Rigger, PM and E-mail sent...

Okay guys, here's the deal:

FJnotCJ and I spoke by phone. He is now on the case. He knows the location. He is riding to the rescue. This '25 will be dragged from the salvage yard and will head to FJnotCJ's place. It will repose there until . . . who knows?

FJnotCJ, please take some pictures of the rescue and post 'em up. It'll be interesting to see it going on the trailer and heading to western MT.

In the meanwhile, I've discovered a few other yards I'm gonne check out. Who knows what'll turn up?

Me and my boy Reese went out to Laurel and met up with Phil as he was hauling the '25 home. The FJ25 looked happy to be out of that boneyard!
