For this crowd the most pertinent bit of info is the frame is pretty much junked. Couple feeble patch attempts here and there. I have put 20,000+ miles on it this way with no further degradation. Body has rust as well.

Lots of good mechanical parts and I daily drive it.

Bumping this ad.
Still for sale in Houston. I can send vids of the frame and body and a cold start.
Need to sell ASAP! House is under contract and i will lose storage by March 15. Junk haulers will take it to the scrappers, I think. Don't think I will let that happen but let's find a new home for this.

It's still out there. I'm tempted but doubtful about finding a frame for it. I wonder how hard it would be to repair the frame, or does it look hopeless?

from just the above pic, I would say it is in rough shape, the inner piece above the rear axle is need of replacement.
my WAG is the inner pieces next to the trans are also bad and the front rear spring hangers are most likely compromised

indeed the frame was in poor condition. front half was decent. some pinholes showing around the trans mount. from the rear spring perches and back was brutal. I would not consider the frame salvageable. That said I did drive the hell out of it. I purchased it in Anchorage and drove it down to Austin. The Canadians in Whitehorse that welded in a few pieces of 1x1 square tubing to support one of the spring perches said they drive them like that for years haha.

What year range frames would work for replacement?

81 thru 84, maybe early 85, the one with the 3 piece trans crossmember
you will need to move the engine mounts from the BJ frame to a F frame
frame swap is a big undertaking, might be easier to find a rig with a bad engine and swap the running gear

I owned it recently and sold it to the current owner. IMO - the only option is to pull the motor and trans put it in a donor.
