the rubber on my adjustable hood bumpers is gone. Anyone find a cheapo fix for new rubber. The local toyota parts counter wants $7.14 each.

i looked in a few local auto parts stores, they did not ever stock hood bumpers. it seemed odd that's why i asked.

go to the pluibing store, and get some rubber plugd with the wing nuts, and use the stock bolts.
thats what i did

i'm going to hit some part yards over turkeyday, there are some good yards near my parents house. What year range on the tercel? or does that not matter.

thanks

i wish we had pick-apart yards here. all the jusnk yard around here have been cleaned up, and built on. a "junk yard" is now a large building with only major parts...door..metal..glass....stocked on big racks, like home depot.

Hammer,

You need to go further west to find the "real" junk yards in NJ. There are several in Hunterdon Co. that my uncle uses on a regular basis. Coozie Brothers, Port Murray and Washington Auto Salvage are the three he uses and I know there are several more.

Nick

Good to know. I need to replace one of mine and I couldn't bring myself to pay $11 from CCOT. Thanks for the info

Chris

I cut shock bushings in 1/2 and made new and improved models.

I think it was a late 80's model. But I am not sure. I never looked at the production date.

On mine (before I went to a 40) I cut about an inch of garden hose and slid it around the metal piece... worked great. If the hood won't latch then just shave a little off.

CCOT wants $11.63 for a pair, but they have $20 minimum.

I have the CCOT bumpers, and they work great. I think there is a little more rubber in the CCOT bumpers; I could be wrong.

Depending on part number which CCOT announce on their website, it's FJ80's hood bumper.
But they work well with 60/62 also.

Oh, Min Seok

I also have the CCOT hood bumpers and like them. The hood closes without that TWANG!!! Before then I just used some lengths of used radiator hose over the bolts - functional but I had to play w/ the lengths to get it right.

I'm sorry to say but in my book $7.14 is cheap. I pay more for my oil filter that I throw away every three months.

I agree about the price, but a long trip to the pick-n-pull gives me some quality fun time away from my wife.

I'm using some black rubber feet for round tubing from the hardware store, they have worked for years.

Suit yourselves on what you allow your $667.67 hood to rest on. :D
