I've led you astray..... :o

Sorry, but Doc is right, the intake DOES start behind the lights, actually behind the blinker. It must have been a little too dark for me to see (It was dusk and I was under the carport). The intake does go into the fender, but then stubs out through the headlight/radiator frame. My apologies for being an idiot.

i would never try and make my own snorkle. but cheers to the people that have. thats something i would have never thought anyone would have done. great job on the 40

I lost track back there a bit. Not sure weather anyone posted any snorkels up or not. But here is mine in any case. Cost me about $200AUD all up. The Safari snorkels in Australia are worth about $450, so i figure i came out ahead. Plus, nothing like a little bit of that custom look.
And no, i cant say i have noticed any difference in performance out of the 2H

Well, at least after 6 years, a major hi-jack and 60+ posts, SOMEBODY actually posted some pics of home made snorkels.

Imagine if we ask the for the parts list!

Question for biscuitlips.....

#2, What is that chrome looking thang connected to the air cleaner for?

#1 where does that hose run off to and why do you even need it?

Why not just cut into the glove box and draw air from the cabin? Nice dense cold air....
Of course if you re compensating for something and need a large tube hangin off your rig.......

Noise, suction in the cabin when you are crossing deep water (or anytime you want to roll up your windows), noise.

if in a 40 its already pretty loud, and if it is mostly a trail truck the glove box thing aint a bad idea. ive come close to adding one to the 60 but i think i can do without for a while longer we will see how deep i get it with it SO now. prolly never "need" one but want is a different story.

#2 the chrome THANG is a filtered breather vent cap to keep dust, debris out. Really that port should be plugged, if water were to reach to that level or it would enter the carb so fast choking the engine.

#1 that hose is what goes to the snorkel connecting to the fender joint or elbow. Without it the snorkel wouldn't function! Poor pic I admit, it doesn't show how it is routed. That hose does a 90 degree bend under that filter housing.

Ah, so #1 routes under the air cleaner and then out through the fender then.
Makes more better cents, now.

If you need durability and not so much ,,goodlookingthing'' then here is a solution. I made it from plastic tube used in plumbing.

Where would you put your gloves?

Where would you put your gloves?

Right next to your registration, two feet down a tube plastered to your air filter.
