ok so this is my newb thread.

i'll post up photos shortly. first question is whether these stock measurements make sense. i am going to try and crank up the stock lx torsion bars. i can't find an official stock measurement for an lc. i am thinking i need to find 1.5" just to get to stock height.

-front = 43.75 cm
-rear = 50.8 cm

this is measured centre of hub to fender. tires are 275/70/16 geolandars.

I can't remember what a stock 100 typically measures but IIRC 43.75cm for the front seems about 3.5-4cm low...

Generally you'll have 2.5-3.7cm or so rake to the front from the rear.

is seven inches enough droop???

You've got plenty of droop...because of the low front ride height. Generally 50-60mm is the minimum recommended droop for our IFS.

well here is why. one of these things torsion bar adjustment nuts is not like the other.

27mm vs 30mm. and i am pretty sure mr t did not spec a jam nut. i guess i am reindexing once dan sends me a care package.

in good news the front end looks ok. the sway bar bushings are toast and the cv boots are just starting to fail.

the steering rack lifts slightly on full left lock and that appears to be due to the bushing where it mounts to the frame with a through bolt. cannot find any side to side slop and the boots look intact. how easy is it to replace that bushing?

What year is your LX?

The large passenger side bushing is easy to replace. I recommend using SuperPro for this...much more durable than OEM.

The other side (driver's side) on '98-'02 can't be replaced without pulling the rack. I think I read, Rohitash's thread perhaps, on '03+ the driver's side bushings can be swapped without removing the rack...but its probably not a fun job.

the only movement i saw was lifting on the ds. i think if i replace that bushing it will be good for a while. i'll look into superpro.

As a new hundy owner myself, I may have to pay close attention... Hell, maybe this should be the intelligent "new hundred thread."
:D

Posted from a brick.

ok next question. how comfortably do 285s fit in the front wheel well at stock height? my nose is 1.75" down right now but i am considering i may need to get 285s before i fix it.

it is going to take time to get the torsion bar parts to fix. they are two weeks out from a canadian dealer and unless dan stocks them he will need to get them from torrence first. meanwhile the tires mounted on it have uneven wear and (worst tire is 5/32 wear difference from best). i do not want to drive it any distance like that. i was going to get two more snow tires but just determined the best 2 tires on it are down 4/32 from stock so i am going to try and trade or ashcan them.

i need to drive about 500 miles this weekend. so i am considering putting 285s on it right now. you can see in the photo above how low the front is. i measure 43.75cm, whereas the front ion the same tires s about 48 cm in the ultimate torsion bar thread. 4.25 cm = 1.77"

I ran Goodyear MT/R in 285/75R16 for a while just after I purchased my '99 without a lift and didn't have fitment issues. Granted I was still being kind to the rig then and not jumping :D...

just went to a tire shop and we had a close look. there seems to be lots of room above and, right now, not much down travel in the body  it is hard to see any near miss wheelwell issues front or back either. reading up in tech it appears problems with 315s on stock 100s are due to width and usually show up when wheeling or at full lock.

i think/hope it will work on the highway for a week or two.

ok i am going to ditch the two geolandars and just buy four new 285s now. waiting on a quote on revo ats. best deal so far is on toyo open country at as they are being discontinued.

in other news, i ordered a hidden hitch and placed a parts order with dan.

-4 x stock shocks (quite a deal so they will suffice for now)
-torsion bar adjustment bolt and swivel
-sway bar bushings
-spark plugs
-serpentine belt (trail spare)
-t-stat and associated gasketry
-air filter
-cabin air filter
-brake pads
-various bolts

the timing belt and water pump will be done by the dealer locally. anything i am missing for a 120k truck with postponed maintenance?

i am going to try and crank up the stock t-bars for now. that leaves the decision on rear coils, and on a complete exhaust... leaning toward dt on the latter. open to suggestions on the coils. in fact, if anyone has stock lc coils for sale i'd be interested in buying to give myself time to decide how much i really want to lift this thing because i am not sure.

I would gladly sell you my stock rear coils. TUT price. :D I also have stock torsion bars available. I might have to snowshoe in to my parts shed to get them but I could do that on the weekend if you want them.

I would get a couple of coil packs as trail spares.

You should get an ODB2 reader of some sort. I like the ScanGauge a lot because it lets me do constant monitoring.

I will caution you against the original Toyo AT...after blowing through two sets (285/75R18) and not getting but ~ 20k miles out of either of them for tread wear life that's just an insult; however they are tough for puncture resistance! I purchased the new Toyo ATII mainly because they came with, in my size, 50,000 mile tread wear guarantee. OTOH my rig has literally a ton on your's so maybe my experience is related. Crap...I get 32,000 miles out of my MT/R Kevlars!!! Just my 2 cents.

I think I still have my original coils...they have around 73,000 miles on them. You can have them for the shipping charge if you want them. Let me know if you want them then like yooper I'll go digging :)
