Hi guys, I recently bought a 1989 hj61 and I've been loving every bit of my time with it.. apart from the most recent.
I'm hoping you guys might be able to give some wisdom on the situation, the other day I was trying to install remote central locking into the car, I've done this plenty of times but in the process of finding which wire I needed to tap into I believe I have accidentally shorted my test probe against a wire or ground.
The problems that arose from that are I now don't have any dash lights and gauges, no blower motor and biggest thing is the engine shuts itself down instantly. I'm aware I can unplug the vacuum line that goes to the shut off valve if need be but I'm just super confused on why this has happened and what has blown to cause these issues. So far I've checked all the fuses and circuit breakers I know of and swapped a few relays that i thought may have died.

I'm very stumped on this and not sure what to do next, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance,
Zane

P.S I have just made an account and fairly new to forums, so I'm not sure with section i should have posted this. If i have posted in the wrong section please let me know. Cheers

simple fix, the fusible link is a type of fuse that uses wires to protect the wiring instead of a bladed fuse. It is connected to the positive terminal of your primary battery. Here is a vendor that makes/sells them: BJ60 HJ60 HJ61 NEW Fusible LINK Links 100% OEM TOYOTA Parts NON-USA and CANADA Spec. Part # 90982-08187 - VintageTEqParts.com - https://vintageteqparts.com/products/copy-of-hzj80-hdj80-hzj81-hdj81-new-fusible-link-links-100-oem-toyota-parts-non-usa-and-canada-spec-part-90982-08266?_pos=1&_sid=c4e336bf2&_ss=r

I just had a quick look this morning before work and it's exactly as you all said, there is a blue one melted in half.
Thank you guys so much, I didn't know that these were a thing but I'm glad I know of them now.

Since they are pretty much a blade fuse, is it worth it to convert mine to an ANL fuse type? As they seem to be a lot cheaper than the Toyota part and I can't seem to find to many options for that part number. And as I'm am in Australia I'm wondering if it's best to convert to a more readily available fuse type from local stores.

Again thank you all

Here is a potential new replacement. I love Matt, but he has had some timing and delivery problems. Overall, he’s a great guy and makes a very very high-quality product.
Thank you, if I can't convert this system to a more common fuse type, is it worth buying a few of these just in case or would it be something that doesn't happen very often?

Here are some pictures of the break for anyone having the same problem as me in the future

Hey guys, I finally got the correct wires today and ended up replacing the broken link with the correct amperage and colour. However it unfortunately did not fix my issue, it seemed to have made no difference.
Is there anything else I could check? I'm probably going to take it into an auto sparky but I thought I'd try the wisdom of the forums first.
I did however check the rest of the fusible links and all the wires after the fuses at the battery, and they are all getting the correct power. So I believe my fusible link problem (at least at the battery) has been fixed.

Anymore help is greatly appreciated.
Cheers, Zane

check that all fuses at fuse panel are good

Beginning to suspect your ignition main relay.

This one controls you Engine and charge fuse.

You could test this by taking out those fuses and see if the starting procedure gives the same effect/result.

I replaced the relay with a few different ones I got from the wreckers and the same result. I also took the corresponding fuses out and nothing changed. But they all have the correct power

If you put the key in IG , does the vacuum operated intake valve open ??
