All,
As the title says, I hit a turkey on my 22 hour road trip, it was a glancing blow, but broke my drivers side headlight, Lexus quoted $1800 and $600 to install…..what are my after market options EBay?

If it’s any consolation, new adaptive headlight assemblies for my ‘08 BMW X5 cost me $1900. Installation and mating them to my ECU was another $1000. I went with OEM because I couldn’t find any aftermarket units that I trusted.

No comp insurance? Though it was clearly the turkey’s fault, I suspect he was uninsured.

If the insurance is not covering the bill, I would look online for a good used assembly. Those quotes sound absurd.

The headlight was $1800, not installed….its absurd

It’s an LX? The headlight assembly has AFS servos and depending on year one or two HID ballasts.

Sorry I’m really Not trying to pour salt in your wounds but these aren’t fords or Chevys.

Body shop told me fords and Chevy are now the same price, it’s gotten ridiculous, new RX headlights are $2200 each.

Cheap aftermarket will have you replacing in a couple years since the quality won't be there and might yellow faster or have condensation inside. That's for you to decide.

Best option would be buying either new OEM or searching for a used one, but install isn't that hard to cost $600

You got lucky. I hit a buzzard 2hrs into a 44hr trip.

i guarantee that was a less expensive fix!🤪
Depends on how you look at it. I can change a headlight myself. Not to mention OEM windshields are NLA.

Anyways, good luck. Statistically, you shouldn’t hit anymore turkeys, so that’s a silver lining.

I should mention, the lens is not broke, just the bracket and daytime driving LED‘s don’t work. I guess I really need the housing correct??

Can't believe nobody has asked.... did you collect said turkey and eat it?

AFAIK just replacing housing isn’t possible. The part numbers are for assemblies.
