I had an unfortunate experience with these guys who are located in central TX. Prior to arrival, we had discussed checking the pressures on my AHC globes since I installed new ones, but do not have techstream. The owner admitted he was sort of unfamiliar with the system so I referred to him the youtube video- AHC easy as 123, and offered to help if I could.

Upon arrival he assured me that he had a bunch of experience with Toyotas and that he will take care of it and adjust the pressures as requested. After about an hour and a half, he came back claiming that I need new "traditional" suspension and since my ride is a '99 that it isnt techstream capable. The redflags popped up and his demeanor and attitude changed to a condescending and unprofessional tone when asking him to further explain the situation. It was obvious he couldnt admit fault, but the worst part was that he would not return my car to original shape or function. He also would not tell me what he adjusted.

As I inspected my car, it was obvious that from low to high was taking entirely too long, yet the owner insisted that it was my fault somehow and the mileage of the car was the issue, among other excuses. The blame game at the customer continued, he threatened to call the cops, and proceeded to shut down shop/lock doors and split off for lunch.

After messaging them one more time to make things right, they responded only to flip the script on me-

"You requested a service that was determined not to be applicable to your vehicle. We offered to provide an estimate for the correct fix & also performed a general overlook of your vehicle, all at no charge. You declined an estimate for repairs, followed by accusatory statements. We do not tolerate threats or unjust accusations. There is nothing further that we can assist you with at this point."

Sounds like a rough situation.

Looking at their Google Reviews, they don't seem to be a very old shop. Hopefully they can sort out the communication problems (see the one bad review on there), and straight up tell someone "I don't have any experience with that" when that situation arises.

Did it end up costing you anything?

They didnt charge me (though not in a genuine way) which he threw in my face as if it was some kind of favor. I was willing to pay even if things couldnt be fixed since it is a unique suspension system. I couldnt believe he was really trying to pull the wool over my eyes, though.

His wife was very nice at the lobby so I was hoping she'd at least attempt to settle it all or apologize for him.

Sorry to add salt to the situation but your 1st mistake was to have him watch youtube. That should've been a sign to go to another shop.
And yes he should've been upfront and take ownership of the screw up. That sucks...

Yup. Although I could see Toyota mechanics never dealing with AHC in their careers. But if they have 30 years experience, they should have someone to call for advice or the dignity to stop what they’re doing and throw the towel in.
