I have been using Rotella 15W-40 as well for over the past 6 yrs now. I did a 3000 miles round trip from Los Angeles to Montana and i burned about a quart in doing so.

306,000 miles. Delo 10w30, original engine/valve stem seals.

1000km trip at 65mph= very little consumption. Rolling hill country, 25-30 Celsius. Heavily loaded cargo. Very little oil consumption.

Same return trip, same temps with less load.
But, 70-75 mph, 1/2 quart oil consumption.

Catch can, puny 1oz capacity, required emptying twice on return trip vs only once on first trip.

So speed/load is a factor imop.

I think the oil consumption on any of our LandCruisers is a combination of Valve Stem Seals, PCV and blowby past the rings due to high RPM operation or under heavy load, or both.

Personally, I'm a bit surprised at the oil catch can which needs to be dumped every fill up, as it always contains a few fluid ounces of engine oil which otherwise would have been ingested by the engine via the intake, or coated the inside of the intake manifold requiring cleaning at some point.
A catch can is on my list, possibly the one from Epic Cruisers when they're back in stock. Where'd you get yours or did you build it yourself?

330-343k I ran 15w40. Would go 2500ish miles after an oil change before the light would come on. Would go another 1500ish before the light came on again. Lowest I think was 700 miles. Varied several hundred miles give or take.
Did valve stem seals and switched to 10w30. Beat the piss out of it doing 4k miles before the oil light came on. Topped off, get another 2kish.
Mine varies a lot. Notice I burn more doing normal city driving.
