So, I've been working on teh pig slowly, tuning it up, etc. At some point, it developed a high pitch humming noise from the rear- further looking pinpoints it to the drivers rear quarter. From what I can figure, it's the little black deal with the three hoses coming off that is making the noise.

Anyone else experience this? Is there a fix or do I just need to find a replacement. :hhmm:
I have not put a lot of gas in the pig either, so would running it low cause this? I just put 5 gallons in and the noise did not go away after letting it run for about 10 minutes.

Next time you hear it humming, take off the gas cap and see what happens.

it went away for a split second and changed pitch. I left the cap off, put it back on, nothing changed. :hhmm:
After turning the pig off, the humming quits shortly after the engine does.

I had a similar issue and pulled all the lines on the carbon assembly, at least that is what I think it is, and blew them out. Noise went away and hasn't shown back up.

Mine whistles, or hums, after a drive sometimes. Or on a hot day just sitting there in the sun. Pretty sure it's my gascap venting. If I take my gascap off, I get the whoosh from the tank and that's it. Hum stops. If your vapor recovery is still intact, I'd imagine the sound is coming from somewhere in it...

the vapor recovery is still there, if that's the black plastic to the left of the gas filler from the inside. I'll take it off and try blowing the lines out, I can feel vibration in part of it though, so it might be inside the recovery itself.
If it was intermittent or less annoying, I wouldn't bother.

I finally took the vapor recovery thing off- I only needed to get as far as unbolting it to find out what was the cause of the noise:

This was coming off the left side of the black plastic deal, is it just an air filter of some sort? is it necessary?
might have just been coincidence, but it seemed like the idle slowed down when I disconnected it.
I blew it out with compressed air, but it didn't make any difference in stopping the noise.

yep, you found it... LOL that takes me back. I could drive a car with no brakes for a month, but one little tiny annoying sound from the rear quarter pannel, and im tearing the whole damn car apart.:D
I bought a new, totyota old stock part from SPECTER OFF ROAD... was like 14 bucks i think, but that was a few years ago. They have it clearly illustrated in there catalogue with a part number.

I cant remember if it is supposed to hold pressure in the tank, or block pressure from getting to the tank, but its a one way valve for gas vapors. and its REALLY annoying when they are loud!
