If you check out this thread http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=433962&page=4&highlight=truehi9 go to post #80, in the second pic there is a tunnel. I was told by another comp guy that they are supposed to go into that tunnel turn around and come out the same end they entered. I was told that it is very tough if not impossible to do so without breakage. I cannot imagine what that Detroit is going through in such a situation.

I believe Poser (the dude who started this thread) ended up getting a Hi9. Maybe he could be kind enough to chime in about how his has been.

Chris-

The 4:88/ARB'ed Hi9 is working great! It has at least 3K street miles on it, and A LOT of time off road.

I destroyed a Warn lock out and ruined the splines on the chromo rear shaft last fall, so I now have CTM 300M rear shafts and Chromo drive slugs. :)

I will be building another truck here not too far off, and will be contacting you for another Hi9. They are a great product....that is why you are linked in my sig. ;)

1% LOL

Dennie upgraded to a 40 spline 60 after last years Gilbert Trip:D

So list some of the big reasons a hi 9 is bad..

I Would'nt Use It All.... I Dont Have Time To List All The Reasons... For Me To Buy It From 1 -10.... It Would Be A .9 For Me

Blah blah blah....

Post up, or STFU.

Ok im bring this back from the dead..
Will the Hi9 diff take the same abuse as a HP dana 60 , a 14 bolt FF would be my rear end

will be used in a FZJ80 wit V8/nv4500/4speed atlas

hp d60 most likely more abuse.. 14 bolt is stronger tho..

I'd agree , the 9" pinion support makes it stronger than the 60 just because of pinion deflection . Might depend on the gear ratio though . What are you planning ?

Long-term
LQ9,NV4500,Atlas 4speed, MegaHi9 with dana60 outters, 14bolt rear. 40" tires, ect.....
and the willing ness to drive it anywhere w/o a trailer

Call George at Twisted Customs and ask 605-390-7002 they've run both for years.

Shannon Campbell and Tracy Jordan can get D60s sponsored to them and pay for Hi9's.

:):):)

I would run one in the front, but no, I would not pay the money they want for that 3rd and run it in the rear.

If you have the need for a high pinion rear due to a short driveline, I would just do the R/C 60.....Rockcrusher has the best price on these.

What are you currently running in the rear?

I love the ARB/Hi9 in the rear of my truck and would not think of using any other differential in my application.
