I have searched posts and need opinions on Hell Creek vs HFS. There is a big price difference. Is HFS worth the price difference?

I have the 4" HFS springs. I like them a lot but am probably going to take them off and go to a 2"

i have the hells creek and i absolutely love it. i can't remember the owners name but i was e-mailing him back and forth asking him questions and he gave me his number and i placed the order at like 11 on a saturday night. he got the order off on monday. all i can say was that was one of the best experiences i ever had buying something with the credit card. as for the suspension i am very happy and it keeps getting better and better the more miles i put on. i don't have any experience with the hfs suspesion but maybe someone can chime in. i haven't seen anyone complain about the hells creek.

Tom at Hell Creek is the man. Great guy to work with.

Love my Hell Creek suspension.

Try a search for posts with Hell Creek by me (77TLCFJ40). Lots of information out there.

I have hell's creek 2 1/2 and I like it, rides way better than my worn out stock suspension did. Shipping was alot and I had to buy shackles and pins from a different source so keep that in mind when comparing costs but I would buy from Hell's Creek again and it has a lifetime warranty

I have a 4" HFS on my '72. We only have 450 miles on 'em and mostly street/highway. So far, so good. Went on very easy and shackle angle is great. My build took two years and the HFS was one of the first purchases. Took 4 months to get them (2 years ago) and I was not impressed. Maybe CCOT has gotten their sh*t together lately.

Their product is fine, IMO.

i put hell creek's on my last 40 and they are a nice ride.

X2....I have had mine for over a year. No sag. Rides good. Like stated above you will need to buy new pins (makes life much easier if you do) and shackles if you want them. The only thing I would do different is possibly buy different shocks than what comes in the kit. Nothing wrong with the shocks but they are not the greatest either. Definately a very good set of springs for the $$.

Anyboyd ever use Ruff Country or does it live up to it's name?

I bought the Hell Creek 4". Works great so far. Everything I needed was there. The only little hitch was that the shocks Tom supplies are bought from another manufacture (can't remember who) and the front one on the steering gear side rubs on the tie rod from the box to the relay link. But as far as the ride goes their great! Stiff yes, but after a bit they smooth out. For the price I couldn't find anything better. Also Tom knew what he was talking about, when others didn't.

I have had the 4" Hell creek for the past year, i think they are smooth on the road (as smooth as a 40 can be), and flex nicely off the road.

hell creek

Just installed the Hell Creek 2.5"on my 1973 40. Cant say enough about the buying experience and the warranty to boot. I am sure that the springs themselves will live up to all the good reviews that are posted here.

I have the 4" HFS on my DD for the last year and couldn't be happier. Like NickFJ40 said they are as smooth as a 40 can be.

What's the measurement from the bottom of the rubber bumbstop to the top of the axle in the Hells Creek 4 inch??

Front?
Back?

I am running 35's and want something that will give me the same lift as I have now with helping springs. I also have a 3 inch body lift, so I don't want to be any higher than I already am.

Thanks!
Craig

I am really looking at the Hells Creek 4" for my 40. I was considering a SOA but am rethinking that now as I don't plan my rig to be a heavy wheeler. Seems like a lot of folks are happy w/ the Hells Creek and it seems to be a lot less coin than CCOT.

I think the only complaint that you will find for the Hell Creek is the shackle angle.
From what I understand, the newer springs have improved angles.

I have been running Hell Creek for at least 3 years now and even though my front shackle angles kinda suck, the ride is still good and the springs flex nicely.

Bottom line:
For the $$ the springs are great.
Customer service is excellent
Lifetime warranty

I just ordered the 4" Hell Creek lift minus the shocks, I'm going to put on some Bilstiens. Now I need to see what extended shackles I need to put on to fit 35's. I talked w/ CCOT and they said 2.5" all the way around to fit 35's. Does this sound right?

Tom is a great guy and has supported the Southern Cruiser Crawl with a raffle donation for many years. Didn't this year but times are tough and I understand. 3/4 of the 40's in CottonLand Cruisers run the 4" kits and love them. I will use his product when my 10yr old Skyjackers wear out.

PLEASE tell him that you saw all of the talk about Hell Creek here on MUD. It's nice to hear about free advertising.

Later,

I have 2 sets of HFS in my scrap pile that went flat after 1 yrs. use........:crybaby: no support from CCOT......

Me myself run HellCreek going on 4 yrs now.......:steer:.........

I'm glad to hear you've had good luck with the Hell Creek. Makes me feel like I made the right choice buying the Hell Creek.
