HFS Shocks - Opinions

Hi Friends!

I have searched in another treads, owners opinions about HFS Shocks, but I haven't found any especific opinion for shocks, only for lift springs and kits.(sorry if I've missed some)...

So I'm starting this tread, once I'm very interested in buying HFS shocks from CCOT.

Pics are always welcome!!!

I'm still having issues with my drivers side shock rubbing on the steering control rod with the wheels straight. If I attempt to turn left my brand new OEM rod will be bent. I call CCOT and they told me once I install more weight on the truck I would get the clearance, well I have everything but the front seats and glass installed and it has not changed.

This may be a dumb question.... but are your shocks mounted upside down?

I ask because I just installed my 4" skyjacker lift and my Bilsteins this weekend. There were no instructions as to which end of the Bilsteins were 'top' or 'bottom'. I determined that the factory would not have put the Bilstein stickers on upside down so that meant that the boot went on the bottom in my case.

As I installed, I confirmed this with the fact that the boot had two small drain holes on the bottom. In other words, if I had mounted them boot side up, the holes in the boot would have let water in and trapped it. So I feel quite sure that the Bilstein 5125's are supposed to be mounted opposite of what your pictures are showing on the HFS shocks. I have never seen the HFS shocks so I am making NO ASSUMPTIONS that they are the same. I am just throwing out an idea.

I have read several threads about the drag link rubbing on the shock after a lift so I was worried about it. On my truck, it slightly brushes the boot, which I can live with, but would definitely be rubbing the shock if I had installed the shock boot up.

The HFS shocks suck. Little rebound control. I'm sure they are no more than relabed Monroes. I had some left over OME shocks and replaced the rear HFS shocks with them and what a difference, even old used OME shocks are better than new HFS. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
