I took a good long look at my 62 today and found I'm in serious need of springs and shocks. I figured while I was at it I might as well lift it. I'm not going to do an SOA because of it'll still be a DD. The HFS and the OME kits are close in price and components. I'm curious which one will give me the best bang for my buck. What are the good and bad points with each kit?

I've had both the HFS and OME on my 62. I can 100% un-reservedly recommend the OME system if what you are looking for is a great ride and long term spring durability. Not poo pooing folks who like HFS, but I would NEVER recommend them for a 60 series. One of the best buys out there for a 40 though.

Very happy with my old man emu springs!

I have the 3.5" OME Ultra Heavy Duty set up on my FJ60 and love it.

I have had the same setup on my 62 for 5 years, with absolutely no issues at all. Best thing I put on my Cruiser yet.

i have ome and love it. much better improvement over stock spring as far as ride and flex and handling are all concerned.

x2..many stories but i hear good things on their 40 springs.

What is the problem with the HFS 60 springs?? Too stiff?

I figured between the two I couldn't go wrong. I figured I'd ask the ones that run em for an honest opinion. Even though they're pricey compared to my FJC lift, it's one of the first things I want to do. I've read a few threads on different lift kit vendors and am seriously leaning towards the OME. Nothing against the other guys but for a couple of hondo more I can get the OME shocks as well. I have the N-71's in my C and they really do a nice job.

I killed the first set of rear springs in one ride/expedition. Lost almost 2" of lift in the first 3 months I had them. The second set they sent is still under a buddy's truck. I hated them.. way stiff, didn't flex off road. No complaints about my OME originals except that I had to buy a whole truck to get them. No personal experience with Dakar, but seems like folks like them.

Hmmm, I wonder if the 5.0 vs 2F weight issue would help..

Oh, make no mistake; I put a s*** ton of weight in there. I think I weighed it at just north of 6k on my way home from that trip. Wheeled it some with that weight. CCOT said that's what killed them. I've done that 5+ times for MUCH longer trips on my OME's since then, and what expect a set of springs to do for me. Since I bought them CCOT has added language to the HFS warranty: HFS Springs are "Lift Springs" not "Overload Springs" I don't think I'm the only person that has ever had this complaint, though.

Oh, btw: 3FE, bitch! :D

Thinking I'll just get the light duty Dakkar's..

BTW, are any of the aftermarket lift springs out there actually longer than stock?

Or do they just keep the same lengths and arch them more?

HFS claims to be longer. Alcan's are build to spec. I believe OME's are longer, but I've never measured.
