There was a sighting of the very rare 'Rossus nonwheelus'. Although he is often out on the trails, his name refers to the lack of sightings by others in the wheeling community due to his solitary nature. A very bad rep to be sure.

The eye witness, Alvin K., aka 'MaddBaggins', was in the Chiva Falls area in the mid morning of Sunday, 11/5/2006.

Mr. Baggins account:

"Well, I just went up to Chiva to test out some of the new modifications on my rig when I came up on him. I am actually kind of surprised that I didn't spook him or anything as I was barrelling down the trail with the radio up pretty loud.

At first I was really surprised and then excited because seeing this is just the chance of a lifetime. Most people don't even think this guy even exists, but I am here to tell you he does! I watched him going down some rock ledges very slowly, so akward he was graceful. I kept my distance and just enjoyed the experience."

Alvin and I had a good time. Too bad the only camara was my crappy cell phone. The second one is of Alvin getting some major wheel lifting.

Ross

ps, I am paraphrasing for Alvin :), its not like he checks in that often and can't contradict me. :)

Nice pics - Alvin's still on dial-up at home so he has proxy posts!

Nice photochop job there Ross!:D

No, it's all true!!! Ross WHEELS!!!!!! We went all the way into the falls and back out. And he learned that BFG AT's at 20psi kinda suck for traction.

That pic of me wheel up is no where near as scary as it felt. And since Ross didn't say it I will. I backed off of that obstacle, for a couple of reasons. I felt very precarious and wasn't sure if it was gonna get worse and Ross told me he was not confident in his spotting skills and there was no one else there to help out. No shame, I backed off and we went on our way. I'll try it again when there are other people there. That was the far left line going up 3 feathers.

Looking at that pic again, it's not real clear, but I think I should have just kept going. Looks like driver side rear has a good perch and pass side rear was probably only inches from starting to climb, then the front would have dropped back down.
Oh well, next time.

I've always been on dial up at home and I don't like to spend much of my off time in front of the puter. My problem is I got my pee-pee smacked at work for spending to much time on the net. The MAN see's all.

Actually Alvin it looks like you were on my "80-line"...more to the right of the obstacle. That's a good line. I'll bet you would have made it up with less wildness than my 100-line. Because of approach angle I had to come in more on the left with the driver's side higher off the ground in the 100. This causes that huge 5' wheellift. You'd a not done this. Next time.

I've got to give Shotts some kudos. He's known for 'beating the horse way beyond death', but lately he's really dialed the rhetoric down, even after being purposely baited several times. My friend, your restraint has been noted!

Gracias. I do have a new focus on MUD. The 80 vs 100 topic has grown very old. I'm tired of the wars. Some folks just don't want to hear about new tricks for the 100 that work. That's OK. I'll let newbie 100 owners take over in this area.

It is funny still....even with my new personality on-board, some attacks still come. Good thing this stuff doesn't bother me.
