If that helped then I would get a new fuel pump. You to me have a problem in the fuel system. Either replace the pump or find some one that can hook up a pressure guage to the fuel filter and read the pressure under accleration if any less then 43 psi, you will need to replace the fuel pump. You are way over due in milage expecially with a supercharger on this truck. Christo still buys real cheap blown up trucks. later robbie

Robbie -

Out of curiosity, just what is the expected life of a fuel pump and regulator on a supercharged truck? Mine now has 118K (installed S/C at about 90K). Wondering if I need to do a preventative R&R on these items at any particular time.

Robbie,
What kinda pressure does the twin turbo pump off the supra deliver (new)? Just curious as this was one of the next mods I was planning to my rig. :D Is there an after or toy gauge available to monitor this part of one's truck system in relation to fuel delivery to a blown engine? Later

Wolf,

Yeah, I know it bounces...but not like this. There is a definite difference between what I see on normal driving and when it's "bouncing." The PO had a Holley Fuel Pump installed for the SC, and it very well may be at fault. I searched for the diagram that Scamper said Phil posted previoiusly, but couldn't find anything. I did read about a lot of others that have been fighting it however. Also read through my FSM (94) and didn't find instructions on how to bypass the Fuel Pump Relay.

I hate to distract from what you've got going on though, so I think if someone could post instructions on how to bypass the Fuel Pump Relay, and test the Pressure Regulator, I'll take that and run with it for a few days.

Thanks

I have seen the FP start to go bad as soon as 150k miles. Really if you think about this it is jsut wonderful. As for parts for a fuel gauge, no I have not see one. We use a adapter here at the shop to hook a pressure guage to the fuel filter, then run it at idle then take it for a run and see what it does under different conditions. Usually if at a dile and you punch it, the pressure should not drop, then out in the field run it sshould never drop under 43 psi, if so it is the pump, if it never reaches 43 psi with the return not pinched and pinched, it is the fuel pump. if it creates low pressure then pinch the return line off and creates high pressure, more than likely it is the pressure reg. this is all done with a fresh fuel filter. As for the supra pump, it does not necessarly creat more pressure but more flow at the stock toyota pressure and can handle more demand when need. hope this helps. have to work some now. later robbie

Seafoam loosed up deposits in your fuel delivery system and are now messing with your injectors? Just a thought. My Seafoam bottle sits on the shelf for right now.

loosened not loosed!!

ali, how dare that person correct your spelling..........the nerve!

Robbie, thanks for taking time to answer, as always your info is insightful and what I needed to know. Later

Nah... I think fuel pump would affect the entire power band, not just this area...

Some years ago, I had a '84 Corvette that had a "flat spot" at 2400 rpm. Only there - nowhere else. After throwing all kinds of parts at it, I started taking it to Corvette "experts"
The third expert was the first one to say it had to be the fuel pump. He put in a new one and it completely solved the problem. I can't explain why, but a malfunctioning fuel pump can affect a very specific, narrow piece of the power band.

That's what I love about this board... SO many people w/ SO many experiences... Thanks for the input. I'm tracking down a fuel pump now...

C-Dan?

You going with a Supra Turbo?

Anyone on this board running one with a SC?

Don't know if he's gotten around to it yet, but Phil (ppc) was heading in that direction.

I am going to be ordering one from C-Dan and going with it shortly. Just gotta pry the checkbook out of my wifes hands............

I've got one (Supra TT fuel pump) going in with the turbo. Will try to report on it as things come along. I also added a begi rising rate fuel reg. Probably not necessary unless you are running forced induction of some king.
