Hi everyone,

Here’s my video on my thoughts on the new GX 550 and my plans on purchasing it. :)

How many people here want the following offered on the GX 550:

1. A third row that folds down flat (like it currently is in the GX 460) standard on every model
Including the Overtrail model.

2. E-KDSS standard on every trim (like it is currently with KDSS standard on every GX 460 model)

3. A “Luxury Overtrail” trim that has all the features of both the Luxury and Overtrail trims for a luxury overlander!

4. Multiple interior and exterior color choices including an “Ecru” light tan colored interior that’s currently available on the GX 460.

5. Pricing from $60K - $80K maximum where $80K will get you the fully optioned “Luxury Overtrail” model from point #3

6. Please don’t put auto start-stop as it is incredibly annoying in traffic and puts stress on the starter/components with usually minimal fuel gains

Apart from the excellent reliability standards that exists on the current GX 460, I would need these five points on the new GX 550 before I’d consider purchasing one. 🙂

The TT V6 will never be as reliable as the V8 in the current GX. Is that any consideration for the GX enthusiasts such as ourselves? It pretty much is for me.

Time will tell. Yes many more parts but this isn’t Toyota’s first use of turbos. Most of there diesels are turbo.

Ecru interior is mad yuck and I am pretty sure you have to show your AARP card in order to qualify to purchase so I don't qualify. I too would prefer a Luxury style loaded Over Trail and maybe that will come in time if the sales and demand support such a thing but the Premium and Luxury trims will still likely dominate the sales since the majority of average buyers prefer that stuff.

The Over Trail will be ridiculously wait listed and likely sell for well over MSRP for at least the first 1-1.5 years. Hopefully high interest rates and the stagnated economy slow the demand of "actual buyers" so that serious qualified buyers can grab one for MSRP by year two. Demand and response is always high initially on these popular, well executed models but 50%+ of initial wait listers aren't serious or even qualified buyers and drop off in short order when it comes time to actually step up.
