Looking for any info on putting Herculiner inside my tub. I live in AZ. so there isn't that much moisture . Give me your thoughts, Good and Bad. Post pics if you have them. Thank You.

i did mine 6 years ago and wish i never did. I just dont like the texture of it. too rough for me.

I did the inside of my jeep pickup. I like it, not fun on bare feet but it repels water so my floors dont rust(damn water leak) so it works for me. My recommendation is screw their little scuff pad they give you in the kit, your better off sanding the panels/floor with like 80grit otherwise it doesnt stick well. I dont know if it was the climate or weather(volcano,HI) but that "can be mildly used in 24hrs" is crap. in AZ it would probly cure in 24hrs but not up here. Just my .02

U-Pol Raptor

If you don't like the rough texture you might try this stuff

I rolled on duplicolor bedliner and like the smooth functionality. Its thinner and arguably not as strong as the other bedliner products but easy to touch up made it a sell for me.

My Herculiner seems to hold up well as far as protections, but not so well in the sun. It is faded and chalky, leaves black on your hands after 3 years. I had put on the Herculiner UV protection, maybe its time to put another cote of that on. My current project will get Durabak, like the color and the price for the color's. Not sure why Herculiner jacks up the price so much for non back color's. I would not user Herculiner again due to its fading when exposed to the sun a lot.

Well it sounds like over all it's not bad. I've been kickin' around the thought for a while. I think I'm gonna go for it. Thank You for all your input. I hear the key is to sand the H**L out of the surface, so I'll go with that. Nick, yours came out real nice. What brand did you use ?

I have the same color vehicle as the OP's avitar, I would like to coat my interior with a bedliner product but don't know which 'colors-up' the best. If I don't go with the 621 green then I would like a light gray. In any case, I can't do black in Alabama.

durabak

I went the POR route, followed by the durabak for color reasons. Sprayed it in with a schutz gun someone gave me. Haven't given it any abuse yet but like the way it came out. I planned on rolling it because I had no experience spraying paint. Didn't have to mask much, small pattern, not much overspray.

Herculiner has worked well for me. I put it in mine about 5 yrs ago with no issues. It is a bit rough on the knees if you're crawling around but other than that I have no complaints. Surface prep is key so make sure you follow the instructions exactly.

I'm another fan of U-Pol's Raptor. For about $150 total, you can get a four-quart kit of spray-on bed liner ($110), a U-Pol spray gun ($15), and some etching primer.

Amazon.com: upol raptor

I consider myself a novice when it comes to painting, but the U-Pol system was easy to use. All you do is pour a little of the supplied hardener into one of the quart bottles, screw the gun onto the bottle, and spray as if you were using a can of spray paint. (You will need an air compressor to use the spray gun. I have a 17-gallon compressor, and it worked just fine.)

I was able to do the inside and the underside of an Aqualu body with the kit, but when I sprayed the interior, I bumped up the air pressure on the compressor so the Raptor wouldn't be heavily textured.

As a side note, I've read great things about Herculiner, too.

My 2 cents - I have hurc liner in for ~ 2 years. I keep vehicle in a garage so not much UV exposure.

Good: It wears great
It is cheap and goes donw easy with roller. I got a gallon from Pep boys for $60 and it went down in a day including prep.
Keeps noice down

Bad - Very rough on bodys and gear

If I had to do it over again, I would go for smoother finsih and customer lighter / Toyota color, grey, not black

I put herculiner in my tub and didnt like the texture also so i bought a couple cans of the duplicolor spray in liner and put a coat on top of the herculiner. it turned out really well and got rid of that sandpapr texture. if you go just herculiner i would definetly uv treat it. i lined the entire inside of my old k5 blazer and it completely faded grey in about 6 months in the so cal sun

That White looks REALLY COOL, With the yellow. Like it a lot.

I bought a gallon of Herculiner to do the interior of my 40 but have not done it yet. I did do my running boards with it and like the way they look and feel, sometimes painted running boards are really slippery when moist. I did not know that the Herculiner had UV issues and am up in the air about it now. I'm wondering if you could mix in some of that white snow coat people use on mobile home roofs to come up with a softer texture and a light gray color. Does anyone have any info on that and if so how does it work, look, and feel when done? Maybe that is a long shot but that snow coat is waterproof and very elastic (from what I recall). I also have some black rubberized pond liner that might be interesting to experiment with. Any input on mixes to add to the Herc would be much appreciated, thanks -Matt
