Somewhere in the depths of Mud, I read instructions on how to separate the lens from the main headlight unit… it was in the context of a retrofit, but I just cannot find it. One of my Depo have let in water from somewhere. Was thinking of separating and resealing the lens to see if that solves.

Ring any bells or suggestions?

There should be a ton of Google search results on separating headlights with warm air/heat guns.

Separating the lens from the housing:
  1. Pre-heat the oven to 270 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Use wood blocks on top of the metal grill inside the oven, do not put the housings directly on top of the metal grill, it will melt the bottom.
  3. Bake the headlights on 270 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes.
  4. Use plastic trim panel tools to pry out the lens from the housing.
  5. Resealing the lens back to the housing is the same temperature and same duration.

Installing back the lens to the housing:
  1. Fill the channel where the lens and housing mate using butyl rubber, no need to go a crazy amount, just apply accordingly.
  2. Reinstall the lens back to the housing.
  3. Pre-heat the oven to 270 degrees Fahrenheit.
  4. Woods blocks still there.
  5. Bake the headlights housing on 270 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes.
  6. Bring out the headlights, butyl should be soft, use cloth gloves/towels and you may press the lens inward the housing and get that seal you desire.
Hope this helps.

This! Thanks. Wish me luck.
