Hey, I have a 1987 FJ 60 in MA...drove it from CA to MA last December. I'm having trouble with two issues and wondering if I could get some help. One, I need to rebuild the original air pump...is there a parts list somewhere for that? Second, when I drove it back from CA, she drove comfortably at 70-75 mph...right now, she's not doing well over 55 mph. The only two changes I have made in the last year are 1.) aftermarket air pump, 2.) recharged the ac. Any ideas where to start looking?

Thanks, Bradley

Do you require smog tests?

If not, you can gut the pump or use a smog pump eliminator(it's just a pully that takes the place of the pump)

I don't think there are rebuild parts, it's either rebuilt (chancy ) or a used OEM pump

Possible you egr is not working or timing is off or many other things that effect performance. The 2 changed you made should not have any effect on power.....however something may have gotten knocked loose....like a vacuum line or something.

A pic of the engine bay is always helpful

Also, I had a fan clutch(oem with 20k on it) semi fail, was staying locked up to long, dropped power and mpg (by 2-3mpg) felt like I was dragging 2000lbs behind me.

You are in Mass now? I'm in CT. I have an air pump I pulled off mine that I gutted tho it had seized. You could gut it and simply use it as a pulley.... Or simply go with a idler pulley? That's how I went. Seems like MA wouldn't have emissions testing now for a vehicle over 20+ years old. (CT is 25).
