So I replaced my clutch master and slave in October because my master gave out so I replaced both with new aisin parts. I believe I bled them correctly but I've noticed when I drive and put it in reverse it grinds. Last week I drove the truck for about 20 min and it would grind horrible going in reverse to the point that I was scared to try and put it in reverse. I've bled the slave twice again and air came out it felt smooth and easy to go into reverse. Today I drove for about an hour and when I got home it put it into reverse and it would grind again. I'm almost 100% sure that if I go to bleed the system tomorrow it will have air. Do you guys have any idea what it might be. 86 4runner 22re

I’d be checking/replacing the rubber line for the clutch. It may be old and worn out.

The hose Mudder is talking about is commonly neglected. 96814-50260. After almost 40 years I suspect it's time to replace it even if it looks good.

Make sure your master is not leaking inside at the pedal. The hose Mudder is talking about is commonly neglected. 96814-50260. After almost 40 years I suspect it's time to replace it even if it looks good.
How hard is it to get too. I was reading and seems pretty hard access

Adjusting the pedal.

So I figure i give bleeding one more shot hooked up the hose put it inside a coke bottle thar was 1/4 full of brake fluid as soon as I opened the valve air started coming out a steady stream of bubbles for about 10 seconds ran up to top off the fluid and pumped the clutch a few more times and some air came out. I did this for about 15 min I noticed the reservoir kept dropping with out me pumping so I believe it created a siphon. I didn't see any more air coming out so closed the valve now hoping it's good going to take it for a drive

If your rubber line leaks, it will let in more
air over time.
A new line should be about $20. How many more times do you want to lay in the dirt and bleed it?

Years ago we had this happen to the family car. Rebuilt both several times and it still kept getting air in it. Finally replaced both with new and the problem continued. Replaced the rubber hose and that fixed it. A lesson that has stuck with me for a very long time.

Yeah just waiting for the lime to arrive

My experience is some of these Toyotas need a pressure bleeding if you haven't tried. Like a pressurized bottle.
