Help with 80 fuel filler neck and tank

I think a sleeve of 1.5-2” fuel filler hose would work but just trying to get the hose separated from tank requires dropping it which could potentially break the neck on the way down. I don’t see removing the body from the frame to do this.

If you are just looking to jerry rig it, just drive the truck up on ramps so the rear end is up, cut the old pipe out and toss in a rubber hose section. I thought we were talking about a legit improvement here.

I’m looking at any option and I had not anticipated it being this challenging to get a replacement fuel fill neck nor having to lift the body to do this. I’m not looking to just make a quick fix but it has been a daily driver and safety is most important. I was hopeful for some solutions from others that have faced this problem and were able to work within the challenges.

The only real solutions are to use a new(used) filler neck or cut out the rusted part of the filler neck and replace it with a section of rubber.

New OEM filler necks are available.
I thought those ended up on the discontinued list? At any rate, if there are some still available, that is also an option, probably the best one if someone wants to just get going on the project rather than wait to find a good used one.

Well, one has to think of parts procurement globally... The US part number is indeed discontinued.

Beno how do I find this unicorn without the us part number?

I am not sure if I followed this thread completely. I have removed the filler neck twice, once when installing a complete OEM sub tank system, and once on another rig, when I moved the rear axle back, and the fuel filler neck needed to be relocated.

Both times I cut the filler neck to remove it. The OEM subtank solution has a short OEM pipe from the tank, then a rubber hose connection to a short duel filler neck. If your ultimate solution involves a flexible fuel rated hose connecting hard pipes. I see that as aligned with Toyota engineering.

Seems to me a bit overkill to buy a Complete new filler neck, then perform all the gymnastics to install it. Will JB Weld, seal a fuel related crack ?

The pic is one of the filler pipes I cut. It’s cut about where the OEM sub tank part ends and it is surplus for my current rig. Not sure exactly where your leak is, but if this works into your solution, drop me a PM

I'm having the same problem, spilling at the pump and it only started recently.

It feels like a venting problem when filling forcing the fuel up the neck and overflowing at the nozzle, out the drain hole in the bib.

I will begin with a visual inspection removing the splash guard and driver side rear bumper and inspecting the hoses.at the fill neck to the tank, and then forwards of the tank to the charcoal canister.

EDIT: replaced the charcoal canister with 215-153 from Amazon. It's a bit wider than stock but will fit in the bracket with a longer securing bolt.
No more spilling at fill up and it fills the whole tank.
