I stumbled across a Australian magazine artice of a 1977 FJ55 Road test. They put it in its paces with a landrover, jeep, and a patrol, pick its faults and give it plently of praise....

I have scanned it for us all to see, its a PDF, but as it has a lot of cool pics, its goes over the 1.9mb file limit.
Im not computer literiate, but would love to share this with you all, can someone help? - its 16 pages and very interesting....

You may be able to upload to PDF's to an online database like photobucket or something. Or possibly upload them to googledocs and then link the webpages here. How tech savy are you? I can give you my email and then I'll upload them if you like. I have a google account already.

Range Rovers beat the pants off of Toyotas????

Range Rovers beat the pants off of Toyotas????

How time proved these journalists very wrong.....

However,
Landrovers - They still havent changed.
Jeeps - Nothing needs to be said here
Patrols - Do thier best to keep up with the Toyota
Landcruisers - The King of the Road then and now, and one of the highest selling vehicles in the country.

Range Rovers - I dont know anyone that has ever owned one, or at least admitted to it...

You can bet that in the 35 odd years since this article was published at least one of the journalists that wrote it have owned a Landcruiser....

Jeeps are vary good Rigs. Let's not forget the the reason the toyota and the range rover are here today is because after WW1 japan and europe needed a vehicle as capable as the jeep. Both the Rangerover and the fj was modeled after jeep left in country after the war.
But! I've had all of these, and I have to say that the Toyota is the best. What really makes the Toyota great is the fact that your not going to be pulling up next to someone with the same rig when you take it out for a spin. When I had my Jeep It wasn't special because everyone had one. When I take the 40 or the 55 out I never see one unless I'm at a all toyota event.
Your not the guy with the 4 Wheel Parts sticker on the side rig. Acting like you built you truck when all you did was take it in for some bolt ons. ( unless you drive a fjCruiser)

ONLY GUYS THAT KNOW HOW TO REALLY BUILD TRUCKS DRIVE FJ40's AND FJ55's
you have to have skills to build something with little aftermarket support like the fj55

Article

I tried but I can't get them squezzed down small enough to make them fit the Mudd server. Photo Bucket or something similar is the best choice. They must have been scanned on a very high definition scanner - they are huge!

Sorry

"The nebulous topic of reputation was handled with care and all it did was uncover a group, in both camps, who were quite irrational about their choice vehicle."
