HELP: Noisy front suspension? (1 Viewer)

I hear this hollow knocking sound from time to time coming from the right front area of my 80. Not sure if its the suspension.

What items need to be checked? What are the common service items considering the front suspension is less complex than IFS.

A pal said the sound could also be coming from the filling material inside the muffler or the exhaust hangers. Possible?

I'd check the shock mounts first.

check the front control arm bushings. The rubber deteriorates with age and usage. They can crack apart and some material falls out so it can allow metal to metal contact. John

I have the exact same problem. Thought it was a bad tie rod so replaced all of them, thought it was my preload redid that. It's still there next I'm replacing shocks and springs. I do have the same suspicion it's my exhaust. Some day I will find it
