Help me decide

Hey guys, I have a dillema that Im not sure what to do. I think I should but I tend to get attach to my rigs and I debate the options for a long time.

For those who dont remember my introduction, I sold my XJ (for $2000) that was lifted, locked and geard, plus many other mods. Sold it and bought a 80 toy pickup (for $800). Now I sold my XJ to my cousin who is a auto broker in Cali, however he still owes me money. I bought my 81 for 800 with a slight tranny problem. I have not done much to it but now My cousin has made me an offer that sounds awesome. ( he knows I like FJ's)

He keeps my XJ, I give him my 80 toy pickup and I get $1000.00 back with a 69 FJ40 that runs. It does need some TLC, but its runs. Has original I6 motor, no top and no rust.

I have been shopping around and an alright FJ that kinda runs still sells for 3000-5000 bones.

What to do?

So, you give him an $800 truck, he gives you $1000 and an FJ40? Sounds like a no brainer.

How much does he owe you now. If it is all of $2k, then make him give the fj40, you keep your truck. He is an auto broker trying to make money, and he has not even payed you what he owes you. He probably got the 40 for dirt cheap, and would do good using it to pay you what he owes you. If he is firm work him, looks like he worked you. If he wont budge on the deal take what he has offered you, After you work him and post 200 pics for us to judge the value better.

Well He hasnt paid me at all. So im taking the value of the jeep and toy pickup vs the FJ40. It sounds good byt my concern is the 2 cars for 1. Give me some supporting lead.. LOL

Well, in mp's scenario you walk with the 40 and your truck. If you'd be willing to take a grand or less for the mini, then that's the way to go. If the mini's worth a grand to you, keep it. Most 40's are worth $2k or more, but that's for you to decide. It might be a basket case- and I'm sure he'd have problems trying to sell it off his lot unless it's restored. He probably gave someone $500 for it. None of that matters though- what's it worth to you?

I'd rather have a topless 40, than a covered Jeep, any day of the week

Well I worked it out. Im getting my jeep back, since there really was nothing wrong with it. I will trade the the pick up and my flat bed trailer and I get the FJ40.
The pick up I bought it for 800 and my trailer is worth 1500. I figure the FJ is not going to be a rig I can wheel right away, since I plan to kind of restore it and do the SOA.
How does that sound?

Atleast you still have a Toyota. What were you using to tow the trailer? I'm sure that neither the Jeep or the 40 could tow it.

Well my xj was and is a trailer queen. But the lost of the trailer is nothing. I also built it and i can do another one or buy another one so no big lost on that

why not - they practically go anywhere ;p yes, you can wheel without SOA I do it all the time

honestly, I would wheel it a bit, and then decide what you want to change - not everything that is hawked on this forum is something we all need

I know I can wheel without an SOA, but i prefer that option, I also know these rigs are very capable, so maybe you are right I can take it on a run to decide what can be modified.
