Along with my lift and drivability Q, which I that you all for helping w/.....

Is there that great a difference in having the medium setup vs. the heavy springs if I don't have front, rear bumper, roof rack, winch etc? I'd like to just run the heavy set...having a few passengers and gear in the truck....Any takes on which one? or is there no real difference? My wallet is not allowing me to grant my wife of bumpers and all that yet.

Subjective Question. Buy the medium OME (851/860). [Subjective Answer.]

I second that subjectiveness ... :D

Let me try to restate....why is it that you should run the Heavy setup when you don't have a good # of the accessories stated above?

Pkp80,
Just from experience the ride is not as great when you go heavies 850/863. It is okay but once you ride in someones truck that has same set up but with the bull bar, winch, rear bumper, pretty much the added weight and proper caster the truck drives differently.

I have had my truck set up w/ 850/863 for past year and half or so w/ no ARB front bumper or any other type of aftermarket accessories and am now at the point where I can't wait to get the stuff on to add on some weight. Without the ARB, Rear bumper, sliders, and winch the truck just does not drive the same. For long time I did not mind how the truck was handling. But after I road in a friends cruiser w/ full set up and running 850/863 I noticed a big difference between my truck and his.

I am not an expert on any of this I just am giving you my opinion on how my truck has been. I hope this helps you in some way.

I second B's answer. I'm in a similar weight class and listened to Christo and went with the medium lift. I have no bumpers or winch ect.. and my rack doesn't weigh anything. The ride is perfect as well as the handling ect....

When I load it up with my camping gear it still sits pretty good. Only time the rear hangs down is when I put the whole damn families bikes on the rear hitch. That's when the rear sags but that's not a configuration I'd go wheeling with.

If I ever get a bumper/winch setup then the shocks can stay, it's just the springs and you know, the springs aren't that much if you keep the shocks. If you consider that you can sell the old springs it's not that much $$ to be out of considering that you'll have the perfect setup.

What I was saying is that you should not run the heavy (850/863) if you are not loading the truck to the static weight those springs are designed for. That doesn't mean you can't run them; just that the ride will be compromised until the vehicle is loaded to the design specs for the heavier springs.
