Heater System Now Works!!!

I posted a thread before about two problems with the heater system

1) the fresh air cable was not connected by the PO. I bet when they did the engine rebuild. David Dearborn pointed me in the right direction how to hook it up.

2) I only had one speed (Hi) with the blower motor. zebrabeefj40 correctly told me the resistor was blown. I went to the local elctronics store and bought a 1 ohm 50 watt resistor. I had to bend the flanges down on the bracket to fit the longer replacement and used electrical tape to mount it to the bracket. I made sure one flange was touching the end of the resistor for heat disappasition. It now works at Lo and Hi speeds.

I hate to say this, but I think I have finally fixed all the PO's issues and now everything works the way it is suppose to.

I thought I would share the results in case anyone else has a similar problem with only one speed.

Since you worked out your Hgih and low speed fan problems i was wondering if your brights work? Mine don't. I have to pull the indicator blinker towards me and hold. If I push it away with it locked into what should be brights position nothing happens.

any ideas? sorry for high jacking

Congratulations, Ken. It's nice to have all that stuff working. Mine was, too, last weekend. Now, my rear heater blower quit on me. (it was a 2 stager). No power to it, either. How does that happen?

Either the lights are wired wrong (low and High lights together) or your switch is bad. Tose are my guesses.

Remove the steering wheel and check the switch...

BTW thread highjacking while fun, is messy especially for troubleshooting questions. It makes it hard to search for later and limits your help input due to a different subject line

great news ken.im horrible when its comes to wiring.all that crap you just said about 1ohm and lalala i could never figure out.im kinda like pouring water on gizmo when i work on wiring,a bunch of gremlins pop outta its back and i got no clue how to chase em and kill em.

i bought a bunch of tickets for that pile.not a jeep fan but i dont mind kickin the crap out of it for awhile.then selling it to the nearest jeep freak,after i get what i want off of it.
